Shocking service from Onida service center

Dear Sir

This is regarding the Onida Split Air Conditioner 1.01-1.5T Model Number SZ12CFL-SZ18CFL which was bought in 2007 from Vismaya Home Appliance, Cochin

We had no issue regarding this product until December 2009, where in the Air conditioner stopped working one fine day.

Since we wanted the best service for our product we called the Onida Service center, they sent the service personnel on Jan 2, 2010.

The person checked the A/c and immediately declared that some board inside need to changed and it will cost roughly Rs 3500/-

We found something fishy and hence we told him that at the moment we do not want it to be replaced. He said he want the service charge of Rs 400/- ( Adonis Electronics Pvt Limited. JOB No 100117163) Receipt number 1113.

Please note just for coming and checking we were charged Rs 400/-.

Later we called and local A/C technician who did the job for just Rs 600/- ( Rs 400 repair charge and Rs 150 service charge).

We still cannot come out of the shock how an Onida service personnel could dupe us like this.

We want an explanation for this as when we call your service center we expect certain reliable service not a source to exploit us for money.

The Onida service guy had a new piece of board and he said he can fix it with a new one, which was not even packed and was inside his suitcase. How can one believe it to be new? It could be that he is just replacing the old with another repaired old part.
We want an explanation to this act of exploiting customer Or else this complaint will go to the customer court.


You cannot dupe the customer and treat them like fools. If a customer does not have the technical knowledge of a product it does not mean that he can be fooled and charged money for all the unnecessary things.

If you plan to run a service center like this please rename it as looting centers because they are doing just that instead of providing any service to the customer.

    i am also having a split ac model of 1tr, my ac is tripping immediately on sleeping mode, i was given call no, of callcentre,by one mr ponkshe who is a manager catagary man but no response from call centre.i am staying at navi mumbai(a 21st century city)but onida does have its service centre at vashi,or navi mumbai area,i was askedto lodge a compliant to Thane, so a service man will come from Thane and like uloot me. onida is not making ac because i have seen same model of vidicon at kolklatta with same Remote.pl rember never go for onida product.

    i have contacted you so many times through net regarding a complaint. Unfortunately i have purchased a split AC from Ms. Quilon Radio Service, Trivandrum, a leading retailer in Trivandrum. The AC was purchased two years back. Immediately on expiry of warranty period the same shown some complaints ( F 6 )and got repaired for a payment of Rs.2500/-. On completion of one month after the repair the machine started showing the very same complaint. I have registered a complaint with the local service station on 18.03.2011. FORTUNATELY THE SAME IS YET TO BE RESOLVED.  I have contacted many times and regular enquiries are made with Ernakulam office ( 0484 3988900) for getting my AC repaired.

    I APPRECIATE THE THE SERVICE PROVIDED TO THE CONSUMERS BY YOUR ESTEEMED FIRM.  .CONGRATS

    NOw I REGRET in having purchased the machine manufactured by ONIDA.

    Today the onida service guy came to house to chek the a.c coz somthing had happnd & cooling was not happening. he said there is a gas leakage from the crompressor so we need to take it in the co. for repairing for which i will have to pay 3500 coz my service warranty jst 2 mnth before got over
    i said let it be, will do this next time, so he startd asking for service charge of rs 450...i said u even didn't touch the a.c n u wnt 450 for wt, he said its a co.rule n u will have to pay..thn i said get lost from here n ask ur manager to call me i m not going to pay any money...
    so later in the eve.i called some private guy to repair the a.c...n very easily he did it..that also in 500rs.

    I have bought a 1.0 t split AC Onida Make from Vijay Sales in May 2012.  From the day 1 it is giving problem. in the last 1year gas has leaked   two  times . water has stated trickling and destoyed the wall of the room. Then I entered in to Rate contract with Unique enterprises  so called authorised  by ONIDA service centre in June 2013. Soon after gas filling it worked  fine  for 2-3 months and again started giving problems of same type, no cooling and water leakage . when i lodged a complain, they kept  contacting us but they actually arrived 15-16 days  after lodging a complain  was registered and getting a complain no. When they came today on 12.11.13,  i told them that overall cooling of the machine is very bad as compared to the 2 other AC which I have  samsung and hitachi which is running trouble free for the last several years. This  ONIDA AC cannot even cool 10x10 room and its useless for me.
    They checked the machine  again said that  gas has  again leaked  from the valve and i need to carry the machine and you have to pay the transport cost od Rs 500/-.  I  understood that the machine is defective and ONIDA just want to kill time and earn some money for gas filling every time. I have  given my observations on  the back side the copy of the annual maintenance contract entered by Unique enterprises. I am sorry to say that i have been  looted by ONIDA as well as vijay sales who are selling these AC without knowing the quality of machines and kind of customer service they offer.  My opinion to readers never buy ONIDA AC instead go for Samsung , ELGI, hitachi etc which are more relaible and service both. Meanwhile my  one year oil AC is lying like dead stone in the midst of hot and humid season of  Mumbai Thanks to ONIDA.
