I purchased a data plan from Rogers for $50 for 10 MB of data. In previous data plans that I had purchased - mostly for US - I always received SMS messages to indicate progressive use of the data plan and to warn me when I was getting close to the limit and of course to invite me to buy a new plan when the limit had been reached. Miraculously - for the Asia plan it turns out that they do NOT offer this "warning" service - but rather keep charging you at the same rate of $5 for 1 MB once the initial plan has been used - so I managed to run up over 41 MB of data before they suddenly decide to cut me off. I only realized what had happened when I received my bill by email.. I immediately called and spoke to several "customer service" agents through their online chat forum and by telephone - I got different stories of what had happened depending on whom I spoke with - one said the SMS messages had been sent - so I ask them to send me a recorded of the message - I was told I had to submit a written request and it would take up to 72 hours to receive a response. Another said that Rogers did not send SMS messages related to data plans for Asia - I asked for a recording of copy of policy where that is stated - again I got the 72 hour waiting period after a written request. I asked to speak with a supervisor - again you need 72 hours to wait for a supervisor to all you back. So finally I cancelled my account and decide to move on. Please be aware that you can make a formal complaint of bad business service to CCTS (www.ccts-cprst.ca) - so please if you feel Rogers has cheated you then make the complaint through this website and at the least it creates a formalized complaint notice that will be logged with the CRTC - the government regulator for telecommunications service providers. Finally, the service I received from Rogers is nothing worse than abysmal - they have cheated me and abused me as a customer and I will not rest until I have some resolution of the issue and have made notice of their fraudulent business practices to all available entities that govern or regulate such matters - including my MP. We supposedly live in one of the most democratic societies in the world - but as a country we have one of the highest charging and most abusive and poorest regulated wireless communication services in the modern world. Having has accounts with all the TSP over the last 20 years - I have to now say that Rogers is by far the worst! I would be grateful to hear from anyone that has had a similar issue as that will help me with data as I continue to pursue this claim against Rogers - and I have lots of free time and energy to do so - so thanks in advance for your help.
