Ocwen has been running home loan billing scams FOR YEARS, ignoring existing homeowner's insurance policies, and cramming inflated force-placed insurance policies while adding fees.

They may also be trying to force a defualt and foreclosure even when payments have been made, to add on foreclosure processing fees, a lot like the old Fairbanks Capital used to do.

Looks like they are still at it.

If they start again, file FTC and state AG complaints, and contact a consumer attorney.

Based on home values in most parts of the country, $12000 in arrears, even for an impound account for taxes or insurance, isn't even credible if you are current on your monthly payments.

It says their records are scewed up and unreliable, possibly deliberately, or they are trumping up force-placed insurance to absurd levels.

RESPA complaints normally require response in around 30 days or so.

Their quick backpedaling in response to your FTC complaint says two things, since normally any regulatory complaint would take weeks to months to even get through the system.

      1)  FTC contacted them immediately.  Only reason that would happen is that there is either an existing consent agreement or a current investigation, either through FTC, or in partnership with another agency like CFPB or HUD.

      2)  They responded immediately.  Only reason that would happen is again, probably (1).

      3)  The complaint and response went through a fast track.  That says consent agreement.

Contact FTC by phone and see what Ocwen is subject to.

Nothing like a scam reporting forum to attract scammers.
