On 05/15/12, I jointed L.A Fitness Club and decided to get a trainer section package with a price of $419 per that month, which offered me up to four section for week with the trainer.
On 05/16/12, I went to the gym at 10 am as the trainer and I had agreed. I waited there for 45 minutes, but he never showed up. I asked to the staff where he was, but nobody could give me any information about him. Then I left, leaving a note saying that I was going to cancel the contract. Matt (the trainer) called me several time to apologize for the inconvenience and told me that he was just was going to give me a free car as part of LA Fitness policy for signing up with the club. So I accepted it. While I was training that day, I kept telling Matt that I was very unhappy about him and his way to take care of his customers since he never show up at 10 am to meet me. Also, I told him that I didn’t think I really wanted to take any training anymore. He persisted and promised to me that it would never happen again; and because I told him that the monthly fee was a little bit too high for me, he was going to talk to the managers and downgrade me my contract so it would be more affordable for me so I accepted it. However, every time, we try to schedule, he was busy so I have to work around his schedule, And the few times (4 times total for the entire month instead 4 per week as he told me) that we did schedule, he was late. And another time, he sent me with another trainer who didn’t even know what she was doing. Five sections and neither of those two trainers got my weight or my measurements recorded nowhere. I never heard them suggested a training plan or nothing.
On 06/5/12, when I finished training with the new trainer, I walked to Matt and asked him to find me another trainer since he was so busy to work with me. I told him that I would like to have a section for the following Thursday, 6/07/2012. Since I didn’t hear from him, I called him on Wednesday 06/08/12 and left him a message. I never got any reply from him until the following week on 06/12/12. He texted me and told me that he had a trainer for me, but I didn’t reply to him at all.
As you can see, the dates since I joined the gym and started the training to the date he left his last text massage, I only had four training sections. One of those sections was free as an offer that L.A fitness has to new members. As this was said, I ended having ONLY 3 sections with them and I got charged $419 per the month.
Then the following month, I got chargd on my credit card another monthly fee for the trainer. When I call saying that I want to cancel my contract and get my refund, they responded that I couldn’t do that because I have a contract for a year with the trainer. I am 118 Lbs, why do I want to have a person for the entire year to train me? I am not even over weight; it will be insane. I thought that I was going to pay for two or three months and play by ear. I remembered very well Matt and I conversation.
Matt: “ You can have the body that you would like in eight months”
Me: “ Matt, I can’t afford you to pay all those months”
Matt: Let’s try for two or three months”
Then I agreed. When he asked me to check mark the contract, I asked him what was about and he replied that it was what we just had gone over. We NEVER talked about 12 moths contract.
Later on, I got a few phone calls from a lady from the financial department telling me that I had two options, either freezing the contract or paying $1600 for cancellation fee. Of course, I didn’t accept it.
Now, LA Fitness is not letting me to use my membership to get my regular workout because I have a balance with you guys, but I am still getting charged for my monthly membership of $25.
