Due to the covid 19 restrictions last year we were forced to cancel our flight to New York (6/23/2020).  We also purchased a travel cancellation plan (policy # 1220141409) from Travel Guard.  The airline issued us a credit good for future flights, but Travel Guard told us we cannot get a credit and we're out the $88 we spent.

Our United Airlines flights from Houston to Calgary have been cancelled. On April 29, 2021, we submitted a request for the cancellation of our AIG Travel Insurance and a refund of the $50.48 premium using the email address that was listed in our policy: united@aig.com. It was 35 days prior to our scheduled departure date (UA Flight 590 leaving Houston on 06/03/21). We have not filed any claims.  On May 5, 2021, Tracy Sr. Operations Proc. Administration I AIG Travel Travel Guard notified me via email that “Based on the terms of our policy, your request is denied.” Why does the AIG administration manipulate the terms of its own policy? The website https://www.travelguard.com/travel-news/coronavirus-advisory clearly states “You may be eligible for a refund of your premium under the following conditions:
    •    Your request for a premium refund is made prior to the departure date listed on your policy, and
    •    You have not filed a claim.”
We are senior citizens and for us the premium of $50.48 is a lot of money. It appears to us that the AIG Travel Insurance is so desperate to keep our money at any cost that they do not mind cheating us by manipulating their own published policy.
