I received a call, and the young man I spoke to spoke so fast that before I realized,I had OK'd subscriptions to 4 magazines. I received a letter from the company stating that I owed a total of$1197.60, which would be charged to my credit card for two years, payment $49.90 per month! Called the company, and was given a number for magazine customer service. Took two calls before I was able to speak with a live person, who informedme that I would have to pay a cancellation fee!

    This doesn't make any sense. they did the same [***] on me.they called one day I told them I wasn't interested in it they say okay.all I know the next week there sending me magazines in the mail.before I know it my money was taking out of my account from them.there scammers I've called so many times steady getting there answering machine.something has to be done.

    has anyone ever tried closing the account and had to face any consequences because the account on the publisher's file was  a bad one?

    I tried to cancel, but I was told you can't cancel unless you pay 1,117.20. I canceled my credit card and it looks like i'll be contacting my AG.

    I filed a complaint with BBB online. Midwestern Periodicals responded that they are closing my account with a $0 balance. Seemed to work. Too bad I didn’t realize it sooner, they got hundreds of dollars from me! Grrrrr!
