Would not replace an air conditioner

First American Home Warranty would not fix my air conditioner that broke last week. It stopped cooling and they refused to replace it. It's very hot these days and I am a stay-at-home mom with two kids. I just don't understand the point of insurance if they don't replace a broken air conditioner. What should I do?
