I used to love maytag

We have alway owned Maytage appliances and bought the Maytag 3000 washing machine.  It has had major issues since day one and now the drum has been extremely noisy and is need of new bearings.

Maytag has been contacted and will not assist us at all and state that it is out of warranty and not their problem.  A washing machine is a major purchase and should last a long time ...  not just 14 months!!

Maytag must know this product is defective given all the complaints I have seen posted here and elsewhere.

Maytag's customer service has been terrible.

    Sorry to say but this was the worst service call I've ever experienced. I  was an appliance Service Manger for close to seven years and serviced Maytag. I have to tell you that this was BAD.  My first scheduled appointment was between 8 & 5. What! My second appointment , I was told, that they would call to tell me it would be AM or PM. Low and behold the A&E  repairman calls me to tell me he would be here in 15 minutes! WOW! Some customer service there!. Once he is here he immediately checks the model number and serial number sticker on my 5 month old Maytag refrigerator, purchased 4/11/2013. Great, good job, so far. He then proceeds to ask me what the problem is. I said the Ice maker in the door doesn't work. OHH!  OK, he looks up the chute of the door and said that the thing is frozen over, apparently the door is wedge open.
    Oh OK! Fix it! He proceeds to tell me that they normally charge $170 to do this type of repair! OH REALLY. Hey buddy what about the warranty! No it's not under warranty this refrigerator was made in 2008. IS THAT RIGHT!  Ok, I'll play this game, I said can you check the model and serial number again, inside the unit, RIGHT ABOVE THE MANUFACTURING DATE. YEP no warranty!

    He proceeds to tell me that he can pour hot water down the ice bucket if I want to get him a towel, but would have to charge me for a service call. OH yes , he did ask me if I had a receipt. WAIT A MINUTE! I put a service call in thru MAYTAG, and have my warranty on file. Now I'm no dummy, but this guy ain't working. I finally said "Listen I'll have to fix this myself, you're ought of here." Apparently he can't or won't check with Maytag to check if this is under warranty, with his sophisticated, laptop computer.
    SORRY MAYTAG BUT THIS IS A REAL BUMMER! OH BY THE WAY A HAIR DRYER AND 20 MINUTES LATER FIXED THE PROBLEM. WHAT NO COURTESY CALL FROM MAYTAG, EVEN WHEN IT'S UNDER WARRANTY!
    WELL, WHAT'S THE OLD ADAGE, "ONE BAD CUSTOMER TAKES TEN WITH HIM"!
    EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING!
