Malign Customer Service

Two weeks ago I called Verizon to downgrade my phone service plan. Yesterday I got a confirmation letter saying 'Thanks for subscribing to our Anonymous phone block services and our Regional service package' which totaled more expensive than my old service plan.
I called and tried to figure out what was wrong and, you guessed, no one knew. So I requested once more to downgrade the service to the minimal plan. The agent told me I have to pay for each call in the minimal plan, and I said that's fine because I was in the process to transfer my phone number to a VOIP carrier. Then she tried to proselytize me into using Verizon VOIP. After I said no she was unpleased and asked why I had to choose another company while Verizon VOIP was more convenient to switch in in my case. I told her I wanted to explore other options since Verizon's customer service was getting more and more unpleasant to deal with. The end of conversation. Today my phone stopped working and a Verizon operator told me an order was issued yesterday to take out the dial tone from my phone line.
I don't know what others would think in this case, I have no choice but think the service agent I talked to yesterday made her revenge using her power by intentionally cutting off my phone lines. I am debating if I should file a law suit again Verizon.
Any advice?
