Complaint

I have ongoing problems with my dish but because of school I haven't been able to watch much television so I haven't complained as much as I should have, according to them. I called in November and they told me to just unplug and wait for signal to come back. This works for a day or two. I called again and got and appointment in December and as soon as they left it stopped working again. I can't get them to come back until Friday, two days later. I tried to cancel service for two reasons, mainly because they didn't make me a priority to fix my problem even after they left my house and it stopped working moments later. The price is high for someone who rarely watches television. When I tried to cancel they threatened a fee for over 300 dollars. This is absurd, I should be entitled to terminate my services especially when I am not satisfied. Dish said that I haven't complained enough and that a service tech has only came once so that is not grounds to terminate services without a fee. In my opinion if the product doesn't work even after it is fixed then I should be free to change providers if I choose. If my product is not working Friday then I will go as far as I have to to change providers without a fee!

I have had Dish for almost two years, early in 2012 I inquired about the number of channels I was receiving.  I had purchased the Top 120 plan and just wasn't seeing that number of channels.  Different channels would come and go and when I asked about them they would say it was just a promotional trial or something but if I wanted to I could add them on for a fee.

I finally actually counted the number of stations I was getting and it was 89 including all the music channels.  When I called about it they immediately discounted the price of my service.... In other words they were shorting me on what the agreement called for and they knew it..  Not sure but I think this is fraud.

Roll forward 8 months, I have called and complained several times about the service going out when the forecast called for rain.  they refused to do anything about it unless I paid them 90 to send someone out to fix the dish.  Then I canceled the service, then they wanted to send someone out at no charge, go figure.  In my opinion Dish is a fraud and the customer service is beyond bad. I am sending my complaint on this company to my state Attorney General for this and what has occurred since I canceled and would encourage everyone else to do the same.
