Immediately contact your bank to dispute unauthorized charges, and close your account due to fraud to prevent additional future fraudulent charges.

We have had AOL for over 20 years.  Last June, AOL turned off my service and posted a message to re-enter my credit card number.  I refused because I thought it was a scam.  I called the AOL number provided and the man who answered said he needed my home phone and password as well as the credit card number.  That was ten addresses ago, so I could not come up with a phone number that matched.  I did not have an email address for them so I sent letters.  I resent the letter each week.  My credit card continued to get charged each month.  Finally, after 6 months, they gave up and turned it back on, explaining that the credit expiration date had finally occurred.  The only reason we kept them...my business cards have AOL as my email address.  They suck!

When contacting AOL Fraud Department at 800-307-7969 the woman who answered refused to go any further with the complaint until I gave her my credit card number that had been charged fraudently. Any advice on where to go from here. The credit card company will disallow each individual charge that we call and contest, but will not put any electronic block on the future charges coming from AOL.  At issue is getting the charges to stop and being reimbursed for past fraudently charges.

      Dear Sir
Being a member of AOL since 17th. May 2000. I have had good connections until just a few days ago, when the AOL support team gave me a new pass word. They also suggested that I purchase a Firewall for internet protection which I accepted and paid for. NatWest blocked this payment twice but it   went through anyway. This seems like a scam using 'TeamViewer software'., not good for your reputation.
My bank tell me that the payment has gone through, but I have not had any Invoice or feedback since. To my way of thinking, it is not right that any AOL staff service provider could work my mac computer from your end and ask for payment for a 'Fire wall' app that does not exist and is not provided by AOL themselves.
The contact number on the bank statement was not recognized by BT after being charged for the firewall.

Please keep me posted by email or phone, as I have not heard from you.

I’m just sending this to let you know you may want to change cards.  My husband and I have had Discover cards for years and while I can’t say what they would do in your case I can say in 20 some years of using this card I can’t think of one time we didn’t have 100% complete customer support dealing with our consumer complaints.  One was a recent AOL where I called for a one time technical support and they tried to bill me for some kind of coverage plan I did not sign up for.  We disputed the charges and won.  There is more to the story but my point is Discover has ALWAYS had our back.  Plus they really do have cash back bonuses.  I wish you well and may your computer never go down.  God bless. Mollie. P.S.  I’m sorry I’m almost eleven years late.

I must have opened a dial up AOL account while visiting the States on business about 10 years ago. Discovered this week that AOL have been charging me USD32.00 every month ever since for a service that I haven't used for any of those 10 years. Its partially my fault for not picking this up on my business statement but equally I really don't think that its right and proper for an ethically controlled company not to remind clients on an annual basis that charges are being made and to seek permission to continue to take funds from a credit card.
Best I can hope for is a six month refund apparently... AOL..... ethical or not ???? what's your view

There are two additional charges for AOL on my credit card this month.  I usually pay 4.99 and this month there are two additional charges for 9.99 and 4.99.  Called AOL and they were so rude.  Called the bank that handles my credit card and they immediately said they will challenge it.  In the meantime they removed both charges.  AOL said I ordered these extra services in October.  I did not.  AOL always send e mail when you change, none were received in October and I would not have ordered these services.  I would suggest contacting the bank and not calling AOL.
