These people scammed my elderly mother.  When I called back to get information the foreign "manager" hung up on me. I called him immediately back and he was argumentative with me.  We called the police and had the credit card canceled.  This is a HUGE scam-stay away!

A guy named Jeff kept telling my daughter that she is only spending $2.95 for $500 in coupons. After an hour he convinced her. As they were getting the name/address/credit card info, they asked if she agreed to join their service. She said no.  Jeff explained that she had to say yes to get the coupons and it would only cost $2.95. So they started over. This time when they asked if she agreed to get the magazines, she again said no. Jeff reassured her that she was not getting magazines or joining any monthly service. She just had to say yes to complete the transaction but it would only cost her $2.95.  She finally said yes.  So now we've got a 49.96 charge for a monthly magazine service and a $24.98 charge for something called Ultimate Savings Plus. We called, they say they will cancel and submit a credit. We asked to hear the audio tape of the conversation and wouldn't you know it? They only have the very end of the conversation where she said yes. We are disputing the charges and cancelling the cards. I hope to meet Jeff someday.

How ironic?  So call me nosey or whatever, but I am guilty of eavesdropping on my grandmothers conversation. Luckily I was.there to tell her that it sounded.fishy. I overheard them giving her her card number. She was suspicious as to how they got it in the first place. I then got on the phone to let them kno that she was not interested. They told me that I needed to repeat the card number and expiration date. I was appalled at the idea of repeating wat they already knew. Instantly I came to the conclusion that they just wanted this information in her voice....they got offended that I wasnt falling for it.i asked for a customer service number. He told me tht it would ve given at the conclusion of the recording. Her bank received a call after I hung up with them while being on hold, while they attempted doctor my recording. Card is no longer active or valid... Scammers...i looked it up and saw this along with other web pages abt this ripoff.

What you are describing is an attempt to obtain a recording that can be made to appear to comply with FTC's requirements for "preacquired account information" telemarketing.

Other complaints are also reporting that they may already have card information, and are only calling to record these numbers to fabricate the appearance of an "authorization".  Since they are misrepresenting the reason for the call, and the reason for asking for the partial card number, that indicates the recording is going to be doctored and spliced into some sales pitch, to make it appear that your grandmother has "agreed" to their fraudulent charges.

Central Rewards has to be the single most fraudulent company I have ever heard of. SHAME on them!!  After being transferred 4 times, I was finally given to a Janel (who would not give me her last name).  I explained that I did not want any of their magazines and to cancel the supposed subscription I had "wanted" which I never did.  She informed me that I had a $2K balance but would settle to put $350 on my credit card today....WHAT?!?!? BOGUS?!?!? How can she sleep at night? I am so upset I am shaking.  She said they will have someone call me later today to play back the tape recorded message from September with my voice saying that I wanted this outrageous service.  God willing, this company will be put under in the very near future.  No one deserves this ridiculousness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This confirms that they are running a fraudulent "magazine subscription" shake down racket.

The goal is not to sell "magazines", but to fraudulently pretend you "agreed" to some multiyear "contract", then extort this "termination fee" out of you.

This type of fraud is most commonly associated with fraudulent telemarketers in the Buffalo NY and Atlanta GA area, but is now another fine "product" of "Central Rewards", the swindlers in Mumbai.

Hey everyone, this is Irrate Dude again.  So... I took the advice of a few others.  Please do the same for the sake of future innocent people.  Go online now and file a complaint with the FTC- Federal Trade Commission. Once you are at their website, you can call them directly and explain what Central Rewards has done, or is trying to do, to you or your loved one.  They will then give you the number to your state's Attorney General.  You can then go to their website and file a state level complaint as well.  Each of us can work together to put one more nail in Central Rewards coffin.  They are misleading and taking adantage of people and need to be stopped.  I said it before and I will say it again....SHAME ON THEM!

I, too, fell for the free gas vouchers.  Was told I'd only get charged the 2.95, when I received the coupons, I could immediately see it was a scam.  I cancelled in the two week period I'd been told I could cancel but still I was getting charged like 49.00 per month.  I cancelled my card.  I started receiving letters from them about a settlement.  After arguing with a lade on the phone, I broke down and paid roughly 600.00.  I'm hoping I can sue them for the lost money.  Beware!!!
