Vonage stole my money! I have just been charged $220 for the cancellation of two lines. I intend to dispute both charges with my credit card companies, but these guys are such crooks, I doubt if I get the refund. I had been a Sunrocket customer for several months and received an offer from Vonage via overnight letter to "quickly" transfer my number and continue uninterrupted phone service. I signed up for the offer, filled out number transfer requests and 911 dialing addresses within an hour of receiving the letter. I received the "free next day" delivery of equipment three days later and installed it (I forwarded the calls via the Sunrocket website to the Vonage virtual numbers). I didn't hear anything from your company for three weeks, but continued to get notices from Sunrocket about disconnection. On the 22nd day after signing up with Vonage my Sunrocket service was disconnected and calls to my telephone numbers were met with disconnection recordings.

I called Vonage to find out what had happened and was told that there was a problem with the number transfer requests and many were lost (trouble ticket #13752554 & 13752605). The agent said that the problem would be resolved within 24 hours. I left for on vacation three days later. When I returned from vacation I found out that I would have to start the number transfer requests all over again. My wife said that enough was enough and insisted on switching back to AT&T. Because this process took 34 days, when I called to cancel I was charged $50 per line for equipment that they wouldn't take back, $19.99 per line shipping and $39 per line disconnection fee. I have never hated a company this much and will tell this story to everyone I can.

I am now in the process of getting transferred back to my former phone company.  I chose automatic debit from my checking acc't., not debit or credit card.  Vonage had told me that it would take 7-10 days on their end to get it set up because that was not the most time-efficient way to set  up an auto debit account.

What they were quick NOT to tell me was that they immediately switched my number with no intention of sending me the "device" until the 7-10 days passed.

I'm going to check into reporting Vonage to the FCC.  If anybody knows how to do this, or has a better idea how to stop this parasitic company, please advise.

The account was set up Dec. 3, and I lost my original phone service Dec. 6.  It's WAY beyond inconvenient.

I am also looking for information about how to stop Vonage from cheating customers. They have all kinds of traps. For example, they wanted to give me a second device for free so I could give it to a friend or use it when travel, and then they started to charge me for an additional line from the very first day even though I only have used one device to date. Of course they also charged me for an additional shipping fee even without mentioning it. When I told them I don't need two lines at all and neither the second device, they asked me to ship it back and charged me $120+ for disconnection and the "refundable" charge for the device....... Then they said they haven't received the device. Then............., and then............... It's a never ending story. Getting involved with Vonage is as depressing as experiencing a terminal disease.

So, we need to find a way to stop them keep doing this.
