I have only had my washer for 2 years and the bearing went. I can't afford to have it fixed. Costs as much as a new machine. Help.

We has the exact same problem. Maytag 3000 series.. No warranty to cover bearings and maytag doesn't stand behind their product! We just spent 1000.00 on a new LG, with a ten year warranty. Everyone needs to stay clear of whirlpool and maytag! In fact there have been so many people with the same problem we should get a class action suit together!

DO NOT BUY MAYTAG!!!  I own a Maytag MHWE400WW01- the bearings failed in less than a year- so it was repaired for free under the one year warranty.  Now two years latter the same problem.  The repair man just said buy a new washer- it is too expensive to fix.  He recommended an extended warranty - avoid Maytag!

Bought this washer from home depot in late 2009; bearings went in approx 8 months, maytag came out and said the existing pad was too small. Had new pad poured and much run around with service repair co (ordered wrong part, installed backwards, left out screws etc..) ~ washer ran ok for about 4.5 years and not only is bearing gone, plastic stuff is coming from drain hose.  So annoyed as this was over $800 from home depot; due to financial issues didn't have $$ to purchase extended warranty.  Now searching for new washer.
