Harassment!!!
Complaint
Annoyed
Country: United States
This company is bull [***]! I have reported them the Better Business Bureau! Apparently I am not the first either. I have no debt in collections and her office keeps calling my house asking for a person who I have never even heard of! Whenever her office calls and I answer, they hang up! I call back and give them my phone number (which I am guessing they use as an account number), and I explain to them that "I am not the person they are trying to get in touch with and please take my number out of their system." They always tell me that my number has been deleted then they hang up before I can say anything! Nobody who works there will give me their name, they tell me "That's not important."! I have called several times to have my number taken out of the computer and they still keep calling all the time! Today I told them that "I reported them to the BBB for harassment, and that I wasn't the first to do so" and they hung up on me again! This has turned into harassment and I am sick of it! This place is a crock and needs to be shut down!!!

FDCPA allows suit to be filed in your local state or federal court, even when the debt collector is located in another state, and it allows courts to award statutory and actual damages, and attorney fees, if you win, so there are attorneys who take these cases on contingency.
Many debt collectors ignore consumer requests to cease calling, even when they are calling numbers unrelated to any alleged debtor. Their employees are minimum wage, poorly educated and trained, hired just to keep calling and harassing debtors, since that's how they make money. Compliance is really low on their list, and if all you do is keep asking them to stop, they have no reason to believe you will do anything else, so why should they bother doing anything.
If they don't stop harassing you when you ask nicely, in writing, pass the case off to an attorney and let them do what they do. Let the defendent pay them for "helping" them comply. You can find a consumer attorney in your state through www.naca.net
Looks like they lost even after throwing in the "kitchen sink".
