I received this email which is similar to what others have recevied (read on-line)  It appears to be a scam in getting you to call them.

This is in reference to your Account number 2249-28 with ACS in order to notify you that after making several calls to you on your phone number, we were not able to get hold of you. So the legal department of ACS has decided to mark this case as a flat refusal and press charges against you.

Your account with ACS is in Final Collections. According to our records, your outstanding balance is $905.67
Do revert back if you want to get rid of these legal consequences and make a payment arrangement within the next 48 hours or else the case will be downloaded against you.

As we have shared with you in previous letters, read your loan agreement; the next step is clearly defined. It could cost us both a great deal of time and money; you can avoid this by taking care of this now.

The opportunity to take care of this voluntary is quickly coming to an end. We would hate for you to lose the option of resolving this before it goes to the next step which is a Lawsuit against you, but to do so you must take immediate action.

Grab your debit card and call us or e-mail us right now in order to make a payment and freeze down this case.

We will be forced to download this case against you and once it is downloaded the creditor has entire rights to inform your employer and your references regarding this issue and the law suit will be the next step which will be amounting to $4528.35 and will be totally levied upon you and that would be excluding your attorney charges and the due amount pending on your name $905.67

    they are a fake "debt collection" scam.

    Report them to the FBI.
    Ignore their threats.  They are typically hiding overseas, and although the authorities can't do much to get them, they also can't do much to you other than harass and threaten you.

      I received the exact same message today - different amount but everything else was the same. I found it interesting that they don't reference WHO they are sending the email to. They also don't tell you who the creditor is.

      I get emails for a doctor in California ALL the time - he apparently doesn't know his email address. So how would I know if this is for me, since it doesn't have my name on it.

      I'm not saying that I don't have debt, but everyone that I legitimately owe money to, sends me mail about it.  It's a major scam and there are people that will just whip out the ol debit card and dig a bigger hole for themselves. I refuse to pay anything without something sent thru the US Postal service.

    I got this email today, word for word, except the ref# and the amount due. I also noticed it doesn't specify who it is for, or who the company is.

    This is a scam from a bunch of the usual Indian scam artists.  Look up Kirit Patel, Indian American businessman who CA who opened a call center in India and scammed Americans out of almost $6 millon in 2 years.  He was arrested.  Don't know what is going on with this now.  My letter contained a different # 716 941 7540.    IF YOU RESPOND TELL THEM VIA PHONE AND E-MAIL TO F--- OFF!!!!

    You are going to be legally prosecuted in the Court House within couple of days. Your SSN is put on hold by US Government, so before something goes wrong we would like to notify you about this matter. It seems apparent that you have chosen to ignore all our efforts to contact you in order to resolve your debt with Payday Services. At this point you have made your intentions clear and leave us no choice but to protect our interest in this matter.
    UNITED LEGAL INVESTIGATION BUREAU HAS STATED 4 SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS AGAINST YOU AND THEY ARE:
    (1) VIOLATION OF FEDERAL BANKING REGULATION
    (2) COLLATERAL CHECK FRAUD
    (3) THEFT BY DECEPTION
    (4) AND THE BIGGEST ONE IS E.F.T. THAT IS ELECTRONIC FUND TRANSFER
    Now, this means few things for you. If you are under any state probation or payroll we need you to inform your superior or manager what you have done in the past and what would be the consequences once the case has been downloaded and executed in your name. If we do not hear from you within 48 hours of the date on this letter, we will be compelled to seek legal representation from our in-house attorney. We reserve the right to commence litigation for intent to commit wire fraud under the pretense of refusing to repay a debt committed to, by use of the internet. In addition we reserve the right to seek recovery for the balance due, as well as legal fees and any court cost incurred.
    WE HAVE ALL THE RIGHTS RESERVED TO INFORM TO FBI, FTC, YOUR EMPLOYER AND BANK ABOUT FRAUD.
    And once you found guilty into the court house than you have to bear the entire cost for this law suit $4271.15 which is excluding loan amount, attorney's fees, and the interest charges. You have the right to hire an attorney. If you don't have one or if you can't afford then one will be appointed to you.We believe that this was not your intent and that these steps are unnecessary.
