Poor policies and customer service

Today, Saturday, 07.11.09, I experienced extremely poor resolution for a transaction that resulted in lost revenue and consumer confidence for Dillard's.

At your Arrowhead Mall, Glendale, AZ location, I attempted to purchase a set of Oneida flatware, regularly priced $149, with 33% off, sale price around $99.  I had great service with Monica.  She escorted me to the register, asked me to slide my credit card, it didn't take, and so she asked me for it and slid it at the register itself.  Then, the final sale price presented for me to sign on the electronic data capture screen was a whopping $164.  I declined to sign and asked that the transaction be voided.  She said she couldn't do that. She called over a young man, who didn't introduce himself and had no name tag.  He explained I would have to sign for the wrong price.  I declined to do that.  I asked him to please void it.  He said he couldn't.  He called someone who apparently told him to tell me they would give me a store credit for the difference of the incorrect price and what I was supposed to pay at the sale price.  Again, I declined to do that.  Why would anyone sign their name to a charge they do not want to accept??

This young man was arrogant, with no apologies, unlike Monica, who was very sorry for the whole thing.  I left, not signing...AND with an authorization on my card which the young would not lift for me with a simple phone call to American Express authorizations.  I now have to wait 30 days for it to drop.

So, having shopped Dillard's for years in Texas...and just a few times now that I live in AZ...I can assure you, I won't enter this location EVER again.

I urge you to educate your personnel on how to void a charge transaction, lift authorizations AND most importantly, remember the quality of the customer experience directly impacts YOUR bottom line and your employee's jobs.

An apology from the rude young man would be appropriate; however, it is unlikely that will happen.

    At the Galleria Mall in Henderson NV, you will NOT get your return even with a tag attached and unworn. The female anglo manager in the evening of 05/01/11 was an idiot and could not trace back the transaction but she was real good about refusing to offer an alternative solution or remind herself of what true customer service is to a cardholder! they also gave me the distribution number in phoenix, AZ when I ask the idiot at customer service for the regional customer service dept. Of course, why would she want us to voice our concern about the lousy service.  Go to Macys you get better service.I'm cancelling my card asap. Go to HELL Dillards hope you close another store in Nevada besides the one at the Boulevard Mall.

    I just spoke with one of the regional managers and he was able to listen to me. finally! after 4 transfers and lots of hurdles to overcome, finally I got to the right person. I advised him that I did not want anything except to have someone LISTEN to my concern and the demeaning experience I received from an arrogant female manager on Saturday evening at Galleria Mall in Henderson, NV on 04/31/11.
    I told him that cardholders don't appreciate the run-around and the arrogant I don't give a sh** attitude.
    I'm FED UP with all this low-budget lack of awareness poor criteria-based educated customer service that seems to predominate at the Dillards store. Oh, they are SWEET to try to woo you to shop BUT DONT RETURN ANYTHING TO DILLARDS you will get the run-around like you broke the law and the CIA will need to interrogate you at the register...I hope they close all the stores in NEVADA they would do us all a service because the majority of their employees wouldn't get a decent job anywhere else anyhow..they should switch their careers desperately in this economy anyhow!   CONSUMER BE AWARE THAT YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY IF YOU RETURN TO DILLARDS!

      [***]...you likely returned merchandise after the return policy. Why should we (yes, I work for Dillard's) make an exception for you? Because you're a cardholder? Read the return policy, dumbass! It applies to EVERYONE! I notice you didn't elaborate on anything regarding why you were actually complaining. Likely because the customer is NOT always right! And you knew you, the idiot, were WRONG!

    Had an issue with the online payments, went to the store and they did not take my payment and I ended up calling the HORRIBLE Customer Service, overseas.  Once I pay the few dollards I owe the account will be closed.  Please be ware of Dillards, not worth it.

    Nortpark Mall, Dallas, Texas, refused to exchange a defective bottle of Polo Cologne for Men, 8oz. Value $89.00, purchased and had receipt from their store on December 2010. The plastic tube is defective and can no longer get cologne to spray. Cheryl, Cosmetic Manager offered to give me a tester bottle 4oz. with no no bottle top and wrote "tester" with a sharpie on the back of the bottle. I could not believe how offensive and ignorant Cheryl, Cosmetic Manager behaved. This is extremely bad customer service. She treated me as if I had stolen the bottle when I gave her my receipt showing I paid full price. Cheryl is an idiot and does not know how to treat customers. She was slick about refusing to exchange for bottle for an equal size bottle instead of a less than equal value. I can see why Neimans and Nordstroms will be in business a long time. They hire people who know how to treat consumers. Unprofessional!!!

      I worked with Cheryl at Northpark and saw her scream on Christmas Eve night- at two sales associates. It was horrible.

      Moron...the return policy is 30 DAYS!!!! Why can't you people get that through your thick skulls? Dillard's is a retailer, not the maker of the product! Contact the manufacturer and I'm sure they'll send a new sprayer. Look their number up online. Not to mention...you purchased it in December, 2010 and are posting this almost a year later, likely when it happened?! Who ever heard of expecting a cologne bottle lasting forever anyway? Get your priorities straight, loser.

    Dillards has a policy to screw the consumer at any cost. Dillards must be hurting for money if they cannot stand behind the name Dillards and don't give exchanges and do NOT give truly remarkable service. Dillards service sucks!

    Dillards has a long way to go for customer service.  Their antiquated cash registers are a joke.  No one has the ability to SERVICE a customer.  Even customer service representative has to call a manager.  I could not get a price adjustment for a mistake that their sales rep made.  I will never, ever shop at Dillards again.

    Sales and quality I find at Dillard's is awesome, but after reading these comments I've figured out the poor customer service. How disappointing I am not one to complaint ever, I just take my business elsewhere. I really liked this store but I am convinced I need to close account and part ways.
