For over 4 weeks I have gotten phone calls from an "attorney" who claims to be William Jacobs from the Brown & Travis Law Firm.  He states that he is sueing me on behalf of Mideastern Financial.  I have not received any mailing from them and each time I speak with him, I request the address of the law firm, Brown & Travis.  He will only ramble on about how I don't want to talk to him.  He sounds like the comedian Gilbert Godfried.  The phone number last used to call me was 412-342-5360 and I traced this back in the white pages as a mobile number.  I could not find any such law firm in that state, only in Texas, with a totally different area code.  Nor is there any Mideastern Financial, or an attorney William Jacobs in the Pittsburgh area.  I am going to report it to the state as false misrepresentation of an attorney as well as to my local police.

I recieved a phone call on my home phone, my husband on his cell phone and my daughter on her cell phone all from this smith and travis law firm telling me that someone by a name of whom I have never heard of is being sued and that we need to call them at 513-348-1790 so I did to inform them they have the wrong numbers and I wanted to know how they had all of my phone numbers and to not call them especially because they are calling our cell numbers one of which is my high school daughters number and this is what they said to me, that I am a low life mother, a jobless pieace of crap, a liar, small town loser. Now all I did was politly call them to tell them they have the wrong numbers and to please not call anymore because they had my numbers mixed up with someone I did not know. PLEASE someone tell me there is something I can do about this, my blood pressure shot up and this should not be o.k. The attorney and owner of the company is the one who said all of this. Please if someone knows how I can turn these people in let me know so I can save someone else from being berated like this, especially innocent people like myself and isn't there some sort of privacy laws crossed here ? FUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you work for them? replies to Wilbur
From your response to Kaye, you either work for these trolls, or at a similar agency. The same thing happened to me. They called my husband's cell phone and left a voicemail for someone we do not know. BTW....what legitimate law firm is making phone calls at 7:00p.m. to people that are in the state they are calling from? I tried to call them to notify them of their mistake, but was met with instant rudeness, followed by the man hanging up on me. He was irritated that I blocked my cell phone number before calling and would not let me speak when I tried to tell him what number he actually called. But you probably know this already, I get the feeling you are one of the jack***** sitting in the room taking and making phone calls.

Even the legitimate collection industry generates numerous complaints of "erroneous" calls.
They have a very poor record of removing erroneous numbers from their call lists.

        Take Allied Interstate, for example.
Fined $1.7 Million by FTC for this same "mistake", and yet recent consumer complaints report they are still doing it.

        Idiot troll.

More to the point, why would you want consumers to believe that this particular "debt collector" is calling the right numbers?

        SmithTravisisaFRAUD replies to Wilbur
Hi Wilbur/Jeremy/Frank White. What is the address for Smith Travis? One cannot file a lawsuit without an address. Someone has to have the address for Smith Travis, unless it is really a scam and they never sue anybody, just harass people's relatives to scam money.

The company is a complete fraud and is currently under investigation and being pursued. I am hopeful the people committing this fraud will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Smith and Travis is a scam! I had a very rude man named Frank White break every FDCPA law there is when he spoke to me. If these people call you contact the FBI then file a report with the Federal Trade Commission. They already have your SS# and if they can't get you to give them money then they will just use that information to ruin your credit. Contact your job, your bank and any one else you may have to because that is there next step to try to get money from you. They are using numbers from Cincinnati OH but they are really in Florida. I live in Florida and the moment he began to speak about the town i use to live in i realized he is also from Florida. He slipped up and said that I must live next to the fair grounds because that's where the trailer park trash lives. I don't live there not that it matters but only people from this area know about that area.

I got a call today and they showed me they are Better Business rated A + they sent me to cincinnati.bbb.org and when i search for Smith and Travis it came up with the A+ rating. I got scared cause I really can't pay my bill due to health issues so I was hoping they were a scam so I called the FTC and talk about rude the lady told me they are not helping me the company is legit and i should pay my bills or hire my own atty that they aren't here to help me avoid my debts.Sheesh. I just paid it now my new iphone has to go back cause I really was hoping the FTC was gonna help me get out of this.

Hi Frank White/Jeremy of the group of criminals that call themselves Smith Travis Ltd. The BBB sees you as the con artists you are, not the A+ rated company you claim.
