CheapO Air DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Complaint
Beyond Frustrated
Country: Canada
I used this provider to book a flight on American Airlines from Toronto to San Diego. The ticket price was $212.00 US one way. I went through the entire booking process, providing all credit details, clicked submit and waited for confirmation. Suddenly, a window popped up which said that this price was no longer available, and it confirmed a new price of $453.00 US each and processed that immediately and WITHOUT my consent. I immediately phoned Cheapo Air and demanded that they NOT process these tickets as I never agreed to purchasing them at this price. I accused the company of a 'Bait and Switch' and the man on the phone said that these prices 'fluctuate' (sure... to the point of more than doubling in less than 10 minutes!) He assured me that nothing had been charged to my credit card, but tried to sell me tickets on a different flight. I told him I would NEVER be using this company again and hung up. 20 hours later, and 20 hours after booking a different flight to San Diego through Hotwire.com, I received my booking information and itinerary for this cancelled flight! When I phoned CheapO again, they first said I was outside the 4 hour window of time for cancellation. I assured them that I had called within minutes and had the phone records to prove it. ( Although I never got angry, the complaints department was very handy at repeatedly dropping the line). 2 days later, after hours of frustrated calling and waiting for repeated promised phone calls, and an offer to reimburse a mere $300.00 of the $900.00 charged, we finally went to VISA disputes. We found out that because American Airlines is the merchant listed on the bill, Visa must deal with them and NOT the perpetrator of this fiasco, CheapO air. (a most convenient legal loophole). It will take many more sleepless, stressful nights to untangle this mess. *So far, American Airlines has been terrific.... We have yet to hear back from CheapO. Trust me, you NEVER want to use this provider.
