He called me back to say that they were filling a lawsuit in New York Court and my attorney and I would need to go to this Court appearance. I hung up again, he called back and told me F off and now I will have to go to Court. This is a scam do not send them any money! If you can get the supposed creditor name out of them, call that supposed creditor and see if they have a complaint/investigation in the works about these scam artists. Chances are the company already has been doing an investigation on them. Cash Net said that they also have a Better Biz Bureau complaint in the works. I just received an email from Cash Net and I am going to post part of it so everyone can complain. The more info we are able to gather about these guys and turn over to the proper authorities the faster they can catch them and stop this scam!
We are aware of this fraudulent activity and are actively investigating all cases as well as cooperating with State and Federal authorities. The Better Business Bureau and the Community Financial Services Association are also aware of this fraudulent debt collector activity and have issued consumer alerts. More information regarding this alert can be accessed on the Better Business Bureau website.
For future reference, the following advice is offered to those who receive a suspicious telephone call about an outstanding debt:
Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
Contact the original creditor to confirm the debt and verify that it was sold to a third party.
Do not provide or confirm bank account, credit card or any other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
File a complaint online with the Federal Trade Commission at http://www.ftc.gov/index.shtml if the caller is abusive or uses threats. Hope this can be off help to someone!
