numerous phone calls each day

Although our number is on the state and federal do not call list we receive several unsolicited calls about security systems and offers to lower our credit card fees every day.  All of these calls are bogus and there is no way that I know of to stop them.  The number and name that appears on the caller id is fake - they use robo dialers that spoof the caller id.  The phone company cannot stop these calls as there is no way to trace them - they originate on a pc and use the internet to originate the calls.  Pressing 2 will not cause them to put your number on their do not call list - it only verifies to them that your number is a live number. It is best to let the call go to an anwering machine or just let it ring.  If you upset them in any way they will increase the frequency of the annoying calls to your home.
