Direct buy is a complete scam. I got scammed in April 2010 at Direct Buy Brighton, MI by Perry the sales liar and Jeffrey the liar in chief/Manager. I was laughed at by Jeffrey and told tough luck you’re stuck with your membership as we do not do refunds. I have never set foot back inside and will not use my membership. These people will burn in hell on judgment day. I'm sure if they attend church they will burst into flames. First of all Perry the salesman lied about the membership being for 7 years during his sales pitch and then had us sign a contract for 3 years. I should have looked over closer but I also shouldn't have needed to if they were a reputable and professional business. The business itself is poorly run. They have to call manufacturers and beg for better prices every time you want to buy something. They can't keep their books up to date or the website. Savings are truly about 10%-15% on average for quality goods and then most charge 10-20% freight and your items get shipped to Direct Buy warehouse NOT to your house. Manufacturers only sell items that are lower quality and not selling at retail stores, which means, you can't buy the quality items you want. The whole concept is based on a lie and the people working there have no moral compass.

    Direct Buy Stupid Crooked Basters:

How many people here please let everyone know if you were a no show up.

I did that after having the hunch that their was something strange going on.

as it turn out, there are People complaints about being out Thousand of Dollars.

So, what I read was, one was not permitted to read the contract.

Well, if that is the case, then do some home worked.

go to this website and even if takes you a while., you're at home in your own control.

The Best Result is to spread the word for people to let

Their Co-workers know, family, friends, Worship fellowship friends.

Even your Neighbor, that is if you communicate on occasions.

We must one day out these stupid lied
    basters out of business.

It appears that part of their high pressure sales pitch is that the contract must be signed immediately after the sales pitch on the day of the visit or they will not be allowed to take advantage of this "great opportunity".

Since those who are lured in probably have not as yet done any research on the company, they are intentionally attempting to close the sale before any possibility of "due dilligence" or reveiw of the contract by an attorney.

They are looking for suckers, just like timeshare sales.

We joined the Direct Buy in Wappingers Falls, NY, The customer service is terrible. One of the customer service reps could not figure out how to order a door knob - it was just too complicated for her. The $4K that we had to pay up front was a total waste of hard earned money - there really is no great break in price - for example a SHOP-VAC BACK PACK VAC MODEL NO. 286.00.10 (HOME) is being sold at SAM's for $123.28 - DIRECT BUY PRICE $113.42 + SHIPPING. Another example - SHOP-VAC BACK PACK VAC MODEL NO.285.00.10 (INDUSTRIAL)is being sold at WALMART FOR $332.91 - DIRECT BUY PRICE $314.25 + SHIPPING. These people need to have a class action suit brought against them. It is much the same with all their pricing.  Additionally, if you have a problem with anything you order from them, you have to contact the manufacturer - they do not even assist with defective equipment.  This is a terrible organization and a scam of a company.

I agree, i just joined and its a complete pain in the butt to get anything done here.  I was charged $6000 for my 3 year membership and have not been able to find a single things for less money.  THE SHIPPING AND HANDLING charges will bring the price right back to retail.  I would not buy a membership here, its a total scam!

I totally disagree with the above complaints and had nothing but an incredibly positive experince with DirectBuy of Brighton. THe sales team and customer service have nothing but good honest upfront people truly trying to help out a family. OUR savings has experince has been outstanding over the last several years and highly recommend anyone to join asap. WE saved over $16,000 on our cabinets compared to the ksi retail store on the exact same manufacurer/same design...thats a lot of money for us. ALL of our furnture, plumbing fixtures, vacuume cleaner//everything we got has beem seriousLY lower at directbuy. WE everage abut 50% on everthing. ALSo the handling charges are waved on all appliances and electronics. IN most cases the appliances get delivered directly to your home. I Noticed that when there is a handlingcharge its on a furniture where i already saved 60%. SOunds like to me the above people really have no clue what they are talking about. THe key is that the company has been around now for over 40 years. If there was truly an issue, don;t you think they would have been found out by now? IT cost you nothing just to try it one time for yourself. MAKe your own decision versus a bunch of morons ABOVE.

We have saved thousands of dollars over the last 7 or 8 years that we have been members. The savings on merchandise is significant. We built a home and spent 23,000 on cabinetry that would have cost us 50,000 anywhere else. Furniture is custom order, as well as ready to ship, so the quality is just the same, there is no sacrifice in quality. Sure, you have to do some of the footwork, but the price reduction on most merchandise, is well worth it. If you find an item that you don't save on, then simply don't buy it. Large items, furniture, carpet, home decor, blinds, all have big savings. We have renewed our membership and are still enjoying the great savings that they offer.

I too received yesterday a congratulations message in the mail from them.  It says right on the mailing when you are supposed to call.  Fridays 2:00 PM to 8:00 pm. I called at about 0715 PM, to see what he deal was.   Because obviously there is more involved than a free 7" tablet with Android O/S camera, and
WIFI, or a NEW Laptop complete with Microsoft Software, and a $100 restaurant dining card!!  Well when I looked at it, these people are in Brighton Michigan supposedly.  I love in Michigan and the calling time regardless of what area code you are in, in MIchigan is EST?  So where are they?  The other thing and most important, the number they tell you to call is a area code with 571?  I know of no such area code in the State Of Michigan, I live in the 517 area code.  Give me a break, I left a message I can't wait to talk to these idiots. Bottom line there is no 571 area code anywhere in the State Of Michigan.  Don't let this go by, contact the Attorney General Immediately whenever you are a friend or family receives this fradualent mail. I don't know how anyone can defend these people, most likely they are a part of the SCAM!!!!!  Like your prior post, why would it be postmarked from palm beach Fla bulk mail?  HELLO

We too received the free tablet, laptop, computer promotion. When I called to claim the prize the guy answer the phone like he'd been sleeping.  When I told him why I was calling, he needed more informaiton and didn't know what I was talking about.  He told me that due to high call volume, he would have to call me back.  NOT.  I hung up and knew immediately it was a scam.  BURN baby BURN.

    hahaha direct buy
My wife and I received a Living Social deal to be used at Direct Buy. So we went there, had to sit through the whole 90 minute ordeal which included watching a video and walk-through of the whole place. This was no big deal but when it came to reviewing the membership options, we both were stunned as to how much it was. The prices of a membership is stupid, simple as that. You can purchase an internet/online membership only which is over two grand! This only includes various things DB offers, yes, you can not just order anything as other membership deals are the same way. Overall, if you want to have access to everything DB offers, the membership is over eight grand! Think about it, you pay for the membership, you pay freight charges on each item, you pay shipping for each item, then you pay taxes on the overall cost. You do not, I repeat do not get the "great" deal they tell you your going to get. Save your time and money and just look for great deals at other places. My wife and I have saved over $500 buying household items at other places.
When they compare prices for you at the introduction of DB, they use specific items that are much less than what you can buy in the store. As mentioned above, we purchased a Living Social deal for $200. We were told by both Perry and Jeff we could use the $200 as credit, and spend up to a grand since we had a 30 day membership. We were also told the first day we went in if we didn't purchase a membership that day, yes... that day, we could not join for 7 years hahaha. Are you kidding me? They are horrible at scare tactics. And when my wife and I finally found something we liked, it was $207.58. So we were $7.58 over our $200 Living Social deal which was cool because they told us on two different occasions we could spend up to a grand. Well at that point both Jeff and Perry said we couldn't spend a penny past $200. They are idiots going back on their word. My wife was pissed at him, and he took it like a champ, which only indicates that we are not the first that have been pissed at him. Okay, last but not least, think about your options. The only way DB will benefit you is if you want to furnish a whole house and if you want to fill that house with high end products. And even then, you may not come out the winner as you do have to factor in "freight charges, shipping, taxes", and God knows what else. Don't buy a membership from these lying people, they make money on lies. People buy these memberships on impulse, they see the great deals pitched at you, which I'm sure is some kind of organized process, and then a week later you punch yourself in the face for even committing to such a outrageous scheme. Don't do it, save your money and buy your products somewhere else. Oh, and there is only one polite person working there. Can't remember her name, but you'll know her if you ever meet her.

I have been a member of direct  buy for probably 5 years now.  We renewed our recently.  We originally join the Mount Clemens store which was closed in moves to Rochester Hills.  You do have to be careful what you buy because not everything has a savings attached to it.  Some products have very little mark up and some products have huge mark ups if you are buying products have huge mark ups you're going to be experiencing huge savings furniture faucets knobs kitchen cabinets pool tables huge mark ups.  I bought kitchen cabinets faucets countertops pool tables dining room sets from db and have nothing but a very good experience and save tens of thousands of dollars. the administrative staff that I worked with was nothing but professional and some of the people that were there when I first joined are still there today granted the  membership drive might feel a little awkward I do agree that there is some pressure there but I succumb to it I did it and I am very grateful for all the money saved so if you're going to go into this thinking that every item that you buy your going to buy from direct buy you're fooling yourself it's only high margin transactions are worth while investigating through direct buy and as someone else on this thread said if the savings are there don't buy it if your joining as you have a project to kick off in your house it'll pay for itself on the first day

Truth in advertizing!

    Microsoft Get Your Microsoft
just got a letter that for all the world looks like the return address is from Microsoft.  Open the letter to see the return address is a PO Box in Florida.  Well, looks like they have been looking for me for a long time because this is a "Final Notice",,  I WON!  a 7" Android or New Laptop.  Does this remind anyone of Hitcher's Guide to the Galaxy?  Ford Prefect wants to divert the crowd's attention, so he gets a shopping cart full of Sony Walkmen, which he starts to hand out.  All the time he's yelling..."Walkman...Walkman...New Scientific Discovery...Get your Walkman...!  All the while he and his friends are heisting a spaceship.

Wow!  You just can't beat that, can you?
