My wife cell phone provider Rogers has been overbilling. We are supposed to pay $22.43 per month for three years. The contract was done in April 2010 over phone by Rogers offering different options and it will expire in April 2013. We paid $172.82 for april 2011 and they have sent $193.07 for month of May 2011.When we contacted Rogers they said $133 for April2011 and $155 for May 2011 are third party charges. There are four company included namely 2WayTraffic,Oxygen8,SendMe,Ultigame billing to Rogers for my account. We do know these company and we have not signed up for any of these company. When we asked for cancellation of wireless service they asked for $400, which we are not aware of it when I asked Rogers Customer Service for proof, they said they keep it for only three months. Then I asked, do I have contract for paying third party charges, they said no, so I have asked why I am getting charged which I am not supposed to pay. But Rogers Customer Service said you have to pay eventhough you did not use it. I am getting very bad experience with Rogers so I have already cancelled my cable TV, internet and now I want to cancel my wireless service. I have been a rogers customer since 2003 now I am tired of your overbilling.

    Hi everyone,

Nicolas from Rogers here. We have great SMS news that will now help you manage your Premium SMS messages easier.

We provide a $40 monthly subscription cap for premium SMS programs, so when your subscription to a premium SMS program reaches $40 you won’t receive any more texts or charges.

Rogers is the only Canadian carrier to also offer other ways to manage these messages. You can now block all premium SMS messages, receive a reminder when you reach $100 for SMS chat programs, and you will now see detailed information on third party premium SMS message services on your bill so if you have questions about a charge, you can easily contact the message provider.

You can find more details on these premium SMS management details on RedBoard http://redboard.rogers.com/2011/rogers-offers ... -for-customers/.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

    Best,

    @RogersNicolas

It sad to read these situations, but sadly, I feel better that I wasn't the "only" rogers customer who felt mislead and unserviced. They should take more ownership over this but I got the same message as everyone else.  Not our problem, deal with the 3rd party yourself.
The 3rd party reps all seem very unprofessional and probably are working out of their basement.
I asked for the charges to be removed, but was told that some "manager" in europe would review and "decide" if the charges could be removed.  I'm not making on getting an answer.
We need more wiresless providers in Canada.

Rogers is the worst! They rob people. I bought online roaming packages for $250 while away on vacation and came home to a $1200 bill. The "manager" told me there's nothing he could do that the charges are "legit". Highway robbery! And noone can help or resolve anything. This fraud bill costs more than my flight!

Wish I read about Rogers much earlier, I wouldn't have taken their services. And I guess rest are the same over here.

Truly I am feeling now they are ripping me of as I am a new customer, just with cell phones with them. Thank god I am not going to take more services from them, was thinking of taking a bundle(home phone+ internet + cable) Gosh!! they are robbers!!! Why so greed for money.

Europe is the best with good internet speed and also reasonable rates.

I had my phone stolen before I left for Maui Hawaii, bought another one for 1000.00 I went to Maui where they had no towers, for rogers they nly had apple and virgin so my phone would not unlock itself it kept circling when I phoned rogers I wa on hold with technical support where I couold not use my phone for a week they reatored my phone where all my information was lost so that new system of all your information saved on itunes is [***]. I had a international package set up because it was I was living there for 3 months and used a pay as you ngo phone thinking I was saving money, especially when they told me I had unlimited outgoing and incoming calls. I spoke to many different representatives cause I know they charge you roaming fee's when you leave canada but since I had a plan I thought I was safe especially when I phoned and they said I was not getting charged, plus I had a canada wide program as well as a international extra so I was paying over a couple hundred a month. I check my bill I got charged roaming fee's from Honolulu which I never even travelled to so my bill went from 1700.00 to 5000.00 to 90000.00 now they went to a credit bureau of equifax and transunion you would think they would let their loyal  customer who never missed a bill know they are getting all these roaming fee's or do a cancelation of service when it gets that high. Outrageous I am going public and to the media about this. You call to complain they say talk to the president and you fgo to email it is all blocked off where you can't make a complaint. Rogers lost my service as well as are going to lose all my friends and business associates.

It is ridiculous that they can bill me for SMS that I never received, and when I ask them to provide the numbers that the texts supposedly came from they won't because "they have a policy" not to.  So I ask to see that policy and they can't even give me that.  Nice, to have a secret policy which says they can bill you for texts you didn't get, and don't have to provide any proof.  So they can just make charges up and it's their policy not to give you info on them, and it's also their policy that you can't see this policy.

I am tired of dealing with Rogers too!  I refuse to wait on hold for them to resolve an error they made!  I have learned to leave a message saying, "Contact ME when you have resolved this to my satisfaction" not the other way around!!

I guess I made a big mistake taking Rogers service. By reading all these post from Rogers it makes sense how they cheat customers with overbilling and why nobody takes action on them.

All these post are useful and I can't understand which service providers  are good in Canada.

I was also a victim of this company (SendMe) with the same scam. They made an unauthorized charge ($9.99 PER MONTH) to my cell phone for allegedly providing a games service that I did not request or approve. My research shows that this is a WIDESPREAD problem with MANY people having been affected.

Any other victims that would like to take up their issue with the source can find details of the company's CEO at this link: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/russell-klein/0/6/5a8

The company's office is in San Francisco and can be easily found through a web search.

You can also find details of NUMEROUS class-action law suits against SendMe for this very practise. Here is a link to one example of this information:

Good luck to those of you looking for restitution ..... and an apology from SendMe.

Well, I got hit as well - My first and last experiance with Cramming

$132.00 for trivia questions. Apparently my wife has been answering trivia questions in hope of winning an IPAD at $3 per instance.

The first useful thing I learned is that you can ask for premium SMS billing to be blocked. You should do this whenever you start up a new service, you can always turn it back on if you need it, but most folks don't need it.

The second thing I learned is that rogers and probably all other carriers are hugely complicant in this fraud.
         - They make a percentage in the amount billed to the scamming third party.
         - They make money from texts that come to your phone and if you are unfortunate enough to reply.
         - Their customer service staff and policies protect both rogers and the scammer, and do not protect the customer.

Fortunately, I have bundled services with all my contracts expired where my bill is around $400 per month. I will take great pleasure in cancelling my services with rogers and moving to virtually anyone else. They are all the same anyways.

    Lar.

I've just cancelled my cell with Rogers after they stuck me with a $360 bill for phone calls I didn't make while in the states. I was happy to pay the $79.90 in data roaming fees, but these phone calls are ridiculous. I wouldn't make a 99 minute phone call to save my life. Yet they billed me for that and 3 more like it. And customer service? Well, as is standard with Rogers customer service, I basically got told to suck it up. The first girl from Rogers I spoke to guaranteed me "100 percent" that they didn't have the $7.99/50mb roaming deal. Then when I sent her the link from the Rogers website, she ignorantly explained how Rogers has too many policies and she can't keep up. I've been with Rogers for a long time and have never lodged an overcharge complaint. And my phone history would indicate I've never made phone calls of that length probably ever, locally or not. But 99 minutes one day, 80 minutes the next, 57 minutes the next..all while in the states? It doesn't add up. But according to them, it has to be paid and that's that. Goodbye and good riddance. I'll tell every person I meet to go to avoid Rogers at all costs.

My experience with Rogers leaves me wondering why there isn't jail time being handed out to these fraudsters. They are a misleading company. Get all your verbal agreements in writing is something I recommend, but good luck with that. I am baffled that crooks like these aren't at least fined substantially and forced to change they fraudulent activities. If you read the various sites, you'll see Rogers described as misleading, unprofessional, fraudulent. Be very careful when dealing with them.
