Jenn Air side by side refrigerato

Purchased a Jenn Air refrigerator in 2007. Its been a pretty good refrigerator until a few weeks ago it just quit. The only thing that worked were the lights. I had a technician come over and he determined that it was a HV board. No problem until I tried to find one. I don't expect a refrigerator to last forever but I do expect Whirlpool to stock parts for a little longer than 7 years. I called them and they gave me some excuse about the plant was destroyed in the earthquake. I sympathize but that's no reason to not get someone to provide these boards. They gave me a name of an outfit that supplies obsolete parts. They were an opportunistic outfit with the price going up all three times I called. They dealt in only rebuilt boards and They wanted double what the part would cost new and this is who Whirlpool recommended. Whirlpool was colder than my fridge as far as help or sympathy. I asked the tech if she would by a $2000 fridge if it was only going to last 7 years and she said no. She offered me a discount coupon that is online (there that should make him happy). No help, no concern and no parts. I own rental properties and I buy a lot of appliances and I don't think I want to buy anything from someone who won't make parts to fix what they sell. I'm very dissatisfied and so are many others with the inability to find this particular part. Evidently it goes out a lot as they are impossible to fine and everyone I called said the same. They are on Jenn Air, Matag, Whirlpool, Amana and a few others. I will research their product line and I won't buy from them anymore. Who can afford to buy 7 year disposable refrigerators. I've got one in my shop that is close to 45 years old that still works but of course it doesn't have a processor board just a few dials. On a side note, I finally did find a board at an obscure little shop after two weeks of searching the net and calling dozens of parts houses. It was brand new in the box and half the price of the place Whirlpool recommended, my fridge is back to mediocre again no thanks to Whirlpool. You supposedly can send your board into a place that will rebuild them but when I did they said it wasn't repairable. Good bye Whirlpool, too bad as you are as close to an American manufacturer as I can get. You can rest assured that I will check parts availability before I buy any of them. This is just wrong to leave people out there in the lurch for parts. Can you imagine if Ford or Chevrolet didn't provide an alternator for a 7 year old rig? Well, there, I've said my piece.
