I got the first call on my cell phone from this number this morning at about 8:50 - I answered with my standard greeting and the caller promptly hung up. By the time I got to work at 9:15, I had three missed calls from this number. I checked the Internet to see who was calling me and found a zillion complaints against the company making the calls. Thankfully, at about 9:40, they called back. This time, the woman identified herself as working with that same government grant company about which everyone else has complained. I informed her that I had looked up her company and was not interested in their services. I told her to remove my number from the calling list because it's a cell phone and she was in violation of the "Do Not Call" policy, and that her failure to comply would result in me filing a complaint with the FCC. She didn't respond, but I heard call center noises in the background, so I know she was still on the line. I said "Hello? Ma'am?" and after about 30 seconds of silence, I hung up. I haven't had another call yet but it's only a little after 10 now. The next time I see 213-228-8111 on my caller ID, my next move will be to make a visit to the FCC website. I recommend you treat these individuals with a small amount of civility but firmly assert your right to avoid harassing phone calls. They're just doing their job - even if it's annoying.

They are NOT "just doing their job."  They are attempting to obtain your account information to scam you out of your money through deception.  That is their job.

They ignore the Do Not Call laws, repeatedly harass people with multiple calls per day for months on end, and if they do talk to you, it is to attempt to sell you some "government grant" product for supposedly a low amount, after which you will find additional larger charges made to your account that you didn't authorize, but they will claim you did.  They end up taking money mostly from unsophisticated people who cannot afford to lose it.

You already have reason to file complaints, with both FCC and FTC.  Whether or not your phone number is on the Do Not Call list, it is illegal to make unrequested autodialed telemarketing calls to cell phones.
