I have been getting dead line calls from this number that reads Grand Forks, ND.  Today the caller said she was from Island One Resorts in Orlando, Florida.  After I got the info I asked to a number to call back and she gave me 1877-896-4715.  I told her to remove me from the list and she got mad and hung up on me!

They appear to be a telemarketer/boiler room/possibly even a questionable "debt collector".  Reported to engage in Do Not Call violations, probable "prize" scams, probable "debt collection" shake-downs, etc.  They may be spoofing their caller id.

These reports show up under that number:

    "Jennifer - 6 Nov 2007
Asked for my husband (mis-pronounced his name I might add). I then asked who was calling-the gal on the phone said they were from the Federal Housing Bureau??? I advised they called the wrong number and hung up."

I got a call from this number and they told me I won a lottery
and that I am guaranteed to win either a Ford Explorer or Plazma TV
    or a cruise."

I called Mid-Con Communications, and they poor girl who answered recited the number back to me as soon as I said, "Are you affiliated with the phone number 701..."

She said they have been getting a TON of calls lately, and they are not affilitated with the number.  She is gathering some information, from me and the other 20 or so calls they've had just in the past few days.  I don't know if it will help, but she was very nice.  Said she had people call from Seattle, Colorado, all over really.

Also, worth noting:  I have had this phone number for 3 weeks.  No one else has it, because I am waiting for my old phone number to be ported.  If you have phone through Cable, they might just have sold your phone number."

Called and claimed to be a prelegal agency planning to sue me for a debt I don't owe unless I make a payment schedule with them.  When I started rattling off FTC laws they disconnected the call.
    Caller ID: Grand Rapids, ND
    Caller: None given"

This guy called and said they were doing an investigation for a debt I didn't owe, so I cussed the guy and hung up. He immediately called back, and I cussed him again. There was noise in the background like other posters described. He gave me a callback number (before I cussed him) of 954-793-4509
And the caller ID on the call showed up as Vocalocity, Inc. If anyone can find info about the number or this shday good for nothing company...
I filed complaint with FTC and DNC registry, hopefully something can be done to stop these bastids.
    Caller ID: Grand Rapids, ND
    Caller: Vocalocity"

Another report tying them to other phone numbers.  They appear to be working off of old "sucker" lists.  Their script implies they are aware they are violating the Do Not Call law, as they falsely claim to have an existing business relationship.

I get calls from this number as well.  I finally did speak with someone named Joyce and she said that I had purchased a trip a few years ago that I didn't use.  That it expired and they were the parent company and ready to give me a $500 voucher towards another trip package.  They were basically asking me to spend $200 for a trip to Orlando, Daytona and Cancun.  If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  I asked her if I could call her back and she reluctantly gave me the number 877-896-4715.  I called back just to see how they answered and it was an answering machine without a description or name of a business.  I left a message and she called back from 949-250-8522.  I'm not going to give them any money or information but today I've received a call from 386-000-0000.  I have to believe it's from the same people.  I'm not sure when it will stop but I will not be answering.

Lastly, they did reference a really old address of mine."
