Webcam problem
Complaint
Rajan
Country: India
I have recently bought a HP Pavillion laptop (Model dv6226tx) in a store at
Chennai, India. It comes with a Vista Home Premium operating system. It also has a in-built webcam. The problem is most of the time, the web cam does not work. Whenever I try to access it with some instant messenger program, like Windows live messenger or yahoo messenger or trillian messenger, sometimes it works with and sometimes I am getting error messages like "Webcam is not connected" or "You dont have webcam connected to this sytem or it may be used by some other application".
When we contacted HP customer care support, they are only giving temporary solution like, re-installing the software for the webcam from the c:\swSetup\Wcam folder. This is every time, we have disable and enable the webcam. There are lots of complaints lodged at the HP wesbite regarding the same problem by various customers, but still HP is not responding with any permanent solution to it. Instead of spening their time in fixing the bug, HP is spending their time in hiding the fact, by removing the complaints that we have posted in their website.
Kindly take this to everyone's notice and make them understand the
intensity of the problem and see how HP's customer care works.

The Pavillion is HP's line of crap consumer products. Don't buy them again, or their Presario line either. Stick to their business line, the NX or NC series.
Call HP back and ask to speak to a supervisor, then a manager, and don't settle for a telephone call back, either.
Thank you.
I own 4 Hp note books the only reason I buy them was because of your customer service but now after been lie I will never recommend hp products and will send letters to all PC magazines of the wrong way to treat your customer only because somebody wants a commission .
I own 3 HP notebooks myself...

Vista is one of the highly secured operating System. It has several restrictions to send or receive the Information from the Computer. Defender, Windows Firewall and User access control. And Norton Internet Security which has power full firewall on it.
We purchased our customised HP Pavilion dv5t Entertainment Notebook soemtime in Sept '08. Within a few days we noticed some problems with the notebook. Listing it down -
Keyboard getting stuck
Volume not up to the mark
Wireless not working
2 applications with volume doesnot work concurrently
IE was very slow
We were asked to return this piece so that it can be rectified. We did so, and we got the piece back on 13th Oct '08. But we still noticing issues with the piece.. some of the problems recurring
Voume still not working
Wireless not working
DVD getting stuck / Some DVD's not playing at all.. we checked the same dvd in other laptop and it worked just fine
2 applications with volume doesnot work concurrently
We called up technical support and it was agreed upon that we will get a replacement for this defective piece. We sent back the notepad and it was returned back with the same problems and later on we discovered that the problem kept compouding. In one day if the laptop was on for 4 hrs, it had to be restarted atleast 3 times since it used to get stuck each time.
So we asked to give us a replacement in Oct. HP agreed. We got the new laptop shipped to us Oct 25th. We realised that none of the problems were solved. On top of that, one day when the Norton Virus subscription alert popped up- it said that 30 days left. This alert popped up on 30th Oct. Ideally if the piece was replaced we should have had 60 days left. So i even doubt whether the laptop was replaced.
Now we have asked for a refund.
Overall, we are very very upset with the product. We are shocked that HP a well known brand name has failed to perform even a small function like playing a DVD and it is supposed to be a Entertainment PC.
We are sending the laptop back but we are not even sure whether we will get a refund. Although we were promised by our Case Manager - ken Kimbell that the entire amount would be refunded. Where can we get the assurance for the entire refund of our money
Wait for this space to see more problems...
in 6 months of purchase 6 times i had gone to service center with zero result, they just format it.
on booting sometimes screen shows different colored lines and system hangs up......
worst service,worst knowledge, worst laptops...
