Looks like they are testing whether the accounts are watched under the guise of some "monthly membership", and if the charges are not disputed, they send through some larger ones.  That would also be consistent with many reports that people are finding these charges on the accounts of elderly relatives, including some who don't even have internet access to buy this (alleged) ebook.

Dispute it as fraudulent through your bank, and close the account or block the card number to prevent further fraud and theft.  Follow up with a fraud affidavit sent to your bank's dispute address.

Your bank can reverse charges if you dispute promptly, within 60 days of the statement date of the statement showing the disputed charges.  That should get back most of your stolen money, back 2 to 3 months.

For the rest, file fraud and theft complaints with FTC, your state Attorney General, and at www.ic3.gov, then contact the Illinois Attorney General.  They may be able to claw back more, or shut them down if they get enough complaints.

This is such an awful ,disrespective, envasive privacy of ones bank account,to have individuals drawing out of an elderly account.  She lives with so little, and then this company draws out 30.00 dollors monthly since April of 2012. They were contacted in June about refunding this, and now they have a disconnect number.

Many complaints have reported charges found on accounts of elderly relatives.

This may indicate a scam set up specifically to exploit fraudulent charges targeted against the elderly, by depending on the victims mistaking the charges for legitimate authorized charges, or not noticing due to the small monthly amounts charged.

IMMEDIATELY contact the bank to block and shut down the account, and to dispute the charges as fraudulent.  The bank should be able to reverse those charges disputed within 60 days of the statement dates of the statements showing the disputed charges, under FRB Reg. E, which should get back 2 or 3 months of charges.  These charges can be forced back on the fraudulent merchant, or on their own bank or payment processor if they have gone bust or skipped town.  Follow up by filing a local police complaint for bank theft and elder fraud, and also send in a fraud affidavit to the bank's dispute address.

In addition, contact the Illinois Attorney General to report fraud targetted against the elderly, in violation of Illinois law.
