What's really funny is I don't own a car, or have a driver's liscense. It is obviously a random call.

What these people do is try to catch a person unaware of scams out there. what these scammers do is spoof numbers so they can't get caught when reported. I hope that they mess up one time and get caught on caller id. By law, they have to identify themselves and their company. Be persistent when they call and say Place me on your don't call list.

I received a call from this outfit or another one operating the same scam.  When the phone rang I picked it up and first heard a tape recording telling me that the warranty on my car is about to expire (my vehicle at the time of this call was not under any warranty).  Being curious about the call I stayed on line to talk to an operator.  When the operator came on the line his first question was "What is the year and make of your vehicle."

To which I replied, "You tell me, Sir."

He answered, "Oh, we are playing guessing games are we?"

The call went down hill from there.  My thinking, of course, was that if they knew my warranty was about to expire, then they would also know the year and make of the vehicle covered by that warranty and when and where I had purchased the warranty. Of course they could not provide any of that information.  Eventually he got tired of me and my questions and disconnected the call.  I have not heard from them since and it has been over half a year.  I believe that my apporach to this call is more effevtive than asking not to be called again.  I have a brother who has been called by them or someone else operating the same scam numerous times. I suggested he try my tactic.  He has not yet and is still getting calls.

Nothing makes me madder than punks who are to lazy to earn a living through hard, honest work, trying to scam those of us who do work out of our hard earned money.

I have heard that the worst thing you can to to these tele-marketers is to waste their time.  Get them on the phone & keep them talking. . . and talking . . . and talking.  Everytime they are about to hang up, ask another question, always politely.
At the least you cut down on the number of calls they can make.  If enough people did this, they would quit because they weren't making money.

    Bob,

I just had the exact same thing happen to me, unfortunately out of reflex i asnwered the question, then the line went dead and when i call back it's busy. I called Gm and they said it aint them. Dont know why they want that info alone.
