Unauthorized Auto renewal
Complaint
Sheri Harrison
Country: United States
Yellow Pages charged my small business over $300 for an ad we never asked for or authorized and claim that they sent a solicitation letter which stated that if we did not respond within a given time period our account would be placed on auto renew. Problem is that that sent the letter to an old address and have now turned it over to collections who are harassing us. How can a company charge you for a service based on non response to a solicitation? That must be illegal. Anyone know of an attorney to file a class action suit? There must be thousands of people they have done this to.

If not, then you never agreed to any "negative option" autorenewal, and this is just a scam.
There are lots of so-called "business directory" scams who pretend businesses "agreed" to by a listing.
Some of them use terms like "yellow pages", even the "walking fingers", but are totally fraudulent.
They commonly employ either sleazeball "debt collectors" or pretend to be a "debt collector" themselves.
Do NOT pay for fraud, or they will keep defrauding you, for the rest of your life.
File fraud complaints with FTC, your state Attorney General, and if they've sent anything by mail, whether a bill or a solicitation, the US Postal Inspector.
What exact name, addresses and phone numbers do they use?
