Reneges on membership rpomises
Complaint
Misled in Sarasota
Country: United States
I joined LA fitness in University Park, FL several months before they opened. I was told that I could name four people who would be given complimentary three-week membership passes. I was also told that for every new member I brought in I would receive $10 off my monthly bill. Prospective members were also told that there would be a salt water lap pool and that a towel service would be available for $10/month. Neither happened.
When I brought in a new member I was told that the $10 incentive was nonexistent. Today I brought my daughter who lives out of state and was informed she would have to pay. When I reminded them of the four-person promotion, they said the sales people who had promised that were fired and that they were not honoring it. Even though my daughter was in their system they would not agree to the three-week pass. (The manage finally acquiesced to two weeks.)
I told the manager that they were penalizing their customers for their personnel issues and that they lied and misled prospective customers during the pre-opening sales period. He had obviously heard that complaint before. Organizations that make big promises that they later renege on should have some accountability. LA Fitness has many competitors in the Sarasota/Bradenton market and I suspect their lack of integrity will eventually catch up with them.
