I got a collection bill from Afni, Inc., PO Box 3427, Bloomington, IL 61702 telling me my account at Verizon has been acquired by their agency for collection.
I have never been a customer of Verizon, so I called their main line. The Verizon people said they have no records of me being their client, and hence they never transfered my account to a collection agency.
I think these people from Afni are scam artists and should be stopped. They even have the nerve to put their New York City Department of Consumer Affairs License #1072175 on the letter to make them look legitimate. Do not send these people money.
