I have been receiving phone calls for about a month now! They are very irritating and usually someone who does not speak English. I was told that they were a law firm and that a cash advance place was suing me for $649.00. At first I was concerned, but began to become angry once I asked for additional information and the non-englisher speaker declined.
I asked what the company name was, which account had it been transferred into, a phone number and contact person. He said that he could not help me with anything, but I needed to start making payment arrangements, or I will be picked up at work.
Angered, I called my bank with the issue. Not only did I look like a fool, because they had no clue what I was talking about, but the only thing that was going into this account was my direct deposit checks. This company is [***]!

They aren't debt collectors, and any "debt" they claim you "owe" is fake.
They are probably calling from overseas, looking for suckers, so ignore their threats.
They aren't going to be waiting at "your place of work", or anywhere else on this side of the planet.
Stop talking to them, as that just encourages them to harass you more.
Or if they keep harassing you anyway, harass them back. Others have reported that can work to send the message that you aren't going to be conned.
They are often reported to have thick Indian accents.
Any thick accents?
