i thought this was a secured debt loan company. everytime i called they were very helpful. told me i had been approve for a debt loan and to send my payment to cover the first 4 months of payments since my credit was so bad. silly- i did it and now i vannot get a hold of any one. they did have a web site at one time, but of course now i can't find it. i think they piggy-backed off of this credit union. the address they gave me a month ago is simillar to that of horizon north credit union!

Did they actually loan you any money, or did they just take some fees from your account on the promise that they would loan you money?

Fits the pattern of a typical "advanced fee" loan fraud.

Cloaking themselves in legitimacy by using a name similar to an existing bank or credit union is also a common tactic.  The address doesn't have to be real, as long as their contact with you is by phone, fax, some other address, or Western Union.  Nor does it matter to the scammers that some consumers might figure out the address is bogus, since only the ones who send money matter.

In fact, individual or company names and addresses are the least useful to track these scams, since they keep changing them to hide the level of their activities.  You can often find which "companies" are really the same scammers by searching on their phone numbers, which they may keep using for months to years.

What phone numbers did they use, whether showing on your caller id, given to you to call back, or provided as fax numbers?

    Two other reports:
    http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/275/RipOff0275808.htm

Note that the "fees" were wired via Western Union to Canada, another tip-off:
    http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/285/RipOff0285413.htm

    Both reports show these contacts:
    866-803-9657
    horizonnorthcs.com

Website appears to be no longer in service.

Complaint tied to phone number.  Caller ID said "CANADA"
    https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-866-803-9657

    Not much visibility.
