Loud Spin Cycle

Looks like I've joined the list of unhappy Maytag consumers.   My washer is now making the dreaded 'jet engine' noise, and now shakes so much it actually moved the washer and caused some water leakage.  I haven't yet called out a tech, as I'm afraid to pay the $75 service fee only to be advised it will be $1K+ to repair.

Am I wasting my time with the supposed Maytag rep who posts on here, or is there anything else I can do?
