GE home security systems has called my home phone number about 4 times in the last 24 hours. I get suspicious that maybe it is a scam to see who does not have security systems, and I NEVER support phone solicitation anyway. This number is actually on the do not call registry so how do they get around that? When I "push 2 to be removed from the calling list" they just call back a week later. When I "push 1 to talk to a representative" they hang up on  me. This is either terrible business or really a scam.

    “GE Security” has a Facebook page, but looks like you will have to join the blog to post anything. Report them right on the FTC & FCC  Facebook pages. The Feds know many Consumers are reading the posts and maybe, just maybe something will be done about it.

    More info from 800Notes posts;
    “Most of these calls are from authorized dealers of one of the major alarm system companies (add- GE Security, ADT, Monitronics, Vivint, etc.). These companies perform "free" installations of security systems conditioned upon signing an extended monitoring contract with the alarm system company. The dealer is then compensated for the sale by the alarm company.
    These "authorized dealers" are permitted and encouraged to advertise aggressively under the alarm company's banner, and are notoriously abusive telemarketers.
    They are careful not to reveal the company's true identity until after you have been "qualified" as a sales lead, if ever. Properly prosecuting them requires answering the call and "feigning interest" long enough to get a live representative on the line and convincing that person to admit who they work for. Sometimes it is necessary to go as far as making an installation appointment and photographing the installer and his or her documentation.”
    “You should see the look on their faces when I pull out my camera after first getting their biz card and contract - often appointments are the only way to find out who actually called or on whose behalf a call was made. An ADT dealer junk faxed my former office - got a lead generator's # from the salesman - it seemed as if there were 3-4 layers to get through to find out who actually sent the fax. Monitronics has known for years, as has Dish Network, that many of their sales come from illegal telemarketing - it will be good to see some more published appellate decisions on this topic.”

    Been receiving many phones calls from this GE security service, offering us free alarm systems if only we allow them to put a sign in our yard.  Have told them repeatedly we are not interested.  Today, got another call, took it a step further, got rep on the line. Which had an attitude, and passed me onto manager, James, which was definitely a smart aleck.  He told me that since I had threatened him with harrassment communications law, that he would continue to call my house.  Then, he gave me a number to call and broke it down for me, 1-800-382-5968, which he pointed out to me that meant 1-800-[***]-YOU.

    I did reverse lookup on both numbers, one he gave me, one I got from my phone, 1800-382-5968 and 518-292-6634 which is listed to a number showing to be in Albany NY.

    Also have called phone company and my local police station for complaint.

    Any other suggestions anyone can have let me know.  Also called the real GE Security systems and they are in no way affiliated with anyone that would use this language and be this disrespectful, and they also go by Protective services as well.  So, they assured me it wasn't them, plus the caller was nice.

    Most are legitmate and will give you equipment that is normally very costly. And install it free. It is a great deal. They don't ask for money and are NOT scamming  you. Of course you have to pay for monitoring. So what?? You expect everything free??

      What a crock of crap.
      They should be charged with felony racketeering violations and serve prison time.

      They are non-compliant telemarketing CRIMINALS who will continue to violate TCPA, TSR and the RICO Act-
      Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act U.S.C. Title 18, Chapter 96 § 1962:

      Sections 891-894 (relating to extortionate credit transactions), section 1028 (relating to fraud and related activity in connection with identification documents), section 1029 (relating to fraud and related activity in connection with access devices),”
      Section 1 of Pub. L. 91-452 provided in part that: "The Congress finds that (1) organized crime in the United States is a highly sophisticated, diversified, and widespread activity that annually drains billions of dollars from America's economy by unlawful conduct and the illegal use of force, fraud, and corruption;

    Got a call from 734-707-0666 saying they will be in the area installing security systems. I said "I am not interested," and he responded with, "you will be interested after someone breaks in and steals all your valuables." I wonder if I should report this tactic to the local authorities as this is the first time a representative has ever made what I took to be a threatening statement after I declined further information.

    Just got my second call this morning.  I also am on a "do not call list."  I called the number on my caller ID and got a garbled ans mach message.  However, what I could hear was if you wish to be removed from the call list press 9.  I did.  Will see if it works.

    They are a scam company.  I fought with them over 3 years ago regarding their 'so-called' service. I bought into their scam, but after their failure to live up to the contract terms, I refused to pay the bill and cancelled my contract with them.  They threatened me and told me that a lawyer would do me no good as I had a contract and would lose.  Also, the lady I talked to was no lady.  She was a B***H!  In capital letters.
    Long story short, I turned it over to the California Dept of Consumer Affairs.  After a lengthy investigation, it was determined that GE had no license to operate in the State of California.  The last letter I got frpm California Dept of Consumer Affairs said I would not hear from GE again.
    They were correct, I've not heard from them since except for the unsolicited phone calls now.
    Do NOT deal with this company.  They are liars and do not fulfill the contract.  Plus, they're over-priced.  You can get better service cheaper from other companies.
