Depew Appliance and Service Inc is the worst company when it comes to customer service and customer relations. And especially Mr. Michael Depew the manager and owner is the rudest and unprofessional person Ive ever met. He discriminates and doesnt care about your satisfaction as customer.. All Mr. Depew thinks is profit profit!! When he talked down to customers he doesnt take second thoughts.. After complaining my dissatisfaction on the service rendered on my washing machine which I believe their technician Steve misdiagnosed it ..Mr. Michael Depew's reponse is "We have done our job, you are on your own now. We dont need your business. Good Bye!!" I was so surprised with his attitude so I asked "Is this how you treat your customers?" he answered me "This is how I treat you".. I felt discriminated and insulted by his unprofessionalism. I couldnt imagine an owner of a business treating a customer like that.. Before I left I told him that I will report him to Whirpool since they referred Depew to me and I would also report to the Texas Atty General. He just said "Go ahead do what you want to do. We have nothing to do with you" I couldnt believe we have a business owner like this here in Austin TX. They ripped me off $81.19 plus the part I purchased which they misdiagnosed. $85. Mr Michael Depew's company is a scam!! Would you still support a company like this???

    Detail of my complaint:
    On Oct 19, 2011,  the undersigned called Whirpool at 800-253-1301 requesting to diagnose a problem with my washing machine. My machine stopped working and I just hear a motor
    sound. Whirpool then referred me to an Austin-base company named Depew Appliance and Service Inc. located at 5933 Burnet Rd, Austin TX (referred to as "Depew" in this letter).
    On Oct 21, 2011 Depew sent their technician "Steve" to my residence to check my washing machine. I was in the house the whole duration of his visit. After testing he concluded that the Control Board of my machine is faulty.. Although he brought with him his own Control Board but he never showed me my machine working when he installed his control board eventhough I was in the house at the time. With my lack of knowledge at the time, I missed requesting that he show me the machine working with his control board.. But he should have involve me in the diagnosis since I was just home and should have been his initiative.  Anyway Steve then said that the total cost of the control board plus service is $194.03 on top of the diagnosis fee of $81.19. I was
    taken aback with the cost since used working used washing machine on craigslist just cost $150. So I said I can only pay him for his diagnosis of $81.19 by personal check. He issued me an invoice with account # 4250979. I also tought I also could get a cheaper control board online which I did. I ordered a control board from ApplianceZone.com and also chatted with a technician named Kelly.. but base on the symptoms I related to her, Kelly confidently said that the issue is NOT with the control board but the Control panel is the one that is faulty. But since Steve has personally checked my machine I decided to purchase a control board. When the board arrived on Oct 25 I immediately installed it as its easy to install since I followed simple instructions how to install it myself. But when I installed the new control board it manifested the same issue as before.. So I called Steve over the phone and he said the new control board I purchased is also faulty and that I have to replace it... which I did.. Then the 2nd new control board arrived on Nov 8 and when I installed it,  exactly same issue again manifested. That was when I suspected probably Steve misdiagnosed my Washing Machine. So I tried calling Depew the same day but wasnt able to reach Steve. Instead another guy named Kenneth answered  the phone. He said that Steve has the right diagnosis but I insisted that I recalled Steve never showed me the washing machine working
    with his control board installed so Im doubting he got the correct diagnosis. Since wasnt helping me at all, I decided to visit personally their store on Nov 8, 2011 at 5933 Burnet Rd Austin TX to request an audience with their manager. Then I met the manager named Michael Depew who I believe is also  the owner of the company.. After introducing myself and explained the issue and told him that I wasnt satisfied with the service rendered by Steve because with 2 new control boards why is my machine still not working so I doubt Steve got the correct diagnosis. I was a dissatisfied customer and I was hoping they would
    find a way to help me since I already paid them $81.19.. But to my surprise, this Michael Depew was so rude, his response was "We have done our job, you are on
    your own now. We dont need your business. Good Bye" I said "Is this how you treat your customers?" he answered me "This  is how I treat you".. I felt discriminated
    and insulted by his unprofessionalism. I couldnt imagine an owner of a business treating a customer like that.. Before I left I told him that I will report him
    to Whirpool since they referred Depew to me and I would also report to the Texas Atty General. He just said "Go ahead do what you want to do. We have nothing to do
    with you"  I couldnt believe we have a business owner like this here in Austin TX. I really appreciate you helping me with this issue with Depew Appliance esp
    with this issue with their manager Michael Depew. I also demand refund of $81.19 for the diagnosis as they dont deserve to be paid and also they should pay me the cost of the
    control board $85.13. Lastly I like to request that whatever License this company is holding must be reviewed as his dealing with me as customer is nothing short of discriminatory

      YOU SHOULD SUE - SMALL CLAIMS COURT. THERE ARE A LOT OF CLAIMS AND THE JUDGE KEEPS FAVORING ON BEHALF OF THE CUSTOMER AND MR. DEPEW IS HAVING TO PAY FOR RUDENESS AND BAD BAD BUSINESS.

    Yes I agree with you.. Depew has the most TERRIBLE customer treatment
    I am typing this with my jaw on the ground. I call and set an appointment to have my elderly aunts refridgerator looked at. On the morning of the appointment I called to give them the make and model to make the job alittle easier as I didnt have that information when I initially set the appointment.The man that answered demanded information to find my appointment, was rude and interrupted my every word and placed me on hold several times. He became increasingly angry when the name and address wasn't helping him find the information needed. I was TRYING to help him by offering information to help him but his refused to hear me. When I asked him to stop interrupting me he told me they were real busy and didnt have time to listen to me and to just give me the "damn phone number" to find the appointment. I told him that it isn't my fault he can't find the appointment with the name and address and he could not talk to me like that. He said I was acting like a real B_____ and demanded I just shut up and give him the phone number or go somewhere else that they would not take our service call.I told him I was canceling the appointment and calling ABA. He then replied with, "go ahead As _ h_ _ _ _."I already feel better with ABA. They waive the service fee if a repair needs to be done. Depew charged $75 just to look at the appliance.As I was setting my appointment with ABA I received a call to my home from a resonable Depew employee but by this time I was only interested in telling him how pooly the other 'gentlemen' has spoken to me and informed him that I would be in contact with the owner. He was kind but equally unapologetic.

    Dont believe positive about Depew Appliance and Service Inc(depewhomeappliances.com) as they are obviously made by their own employees!! Truth is I hired them a year ago and this is my opportunity to give the community an honest feedback.. I like others on this review have never written a completely negative review on any service or company, but, wow...Depew Appliance is the WORST. I bought a refrig there a year and a half ago because I needed a very small, hard to find model to fit my space. I was having a $30k kitchen redo at the time, and I paid 1/2 up front, then never received any bill from Depew. I frankly forgot about the deal and know one at Depew every followed up by phone or mail until Over a YEAR had passed. The salesman Kenneth accused me on the phone of lying and avoiding my bill. Shocked I told him I would check my records and call him back. Within 10 minutes the owner Mike Depew pulled up to my house! Threatening me if I didn't pay him right there and then. It was like something out of a scene from a "hit man" type movie where the big guy comes over to a guy's house to "lean" on him to pay off his gambling debt! I'm not embellishing any of this! When I pointed out that it's been over a year since I bought the refrig, Mike just said "yeah yeah yeah...give me my money...you owe us." STAY AWAY FROM DEPEW APPLIANCE. BBB has already marked them a warning! Austin..Be wary hiring Depew.

    Absolutely HORRIBLE - Stay Away
    Depew has to be the worst. Thier customer service is rude and it seems like they go out of thier way to be rude and un-helpful. I cant believe they are still in business. After my bad experience with them, I started reading reviews and found out everyone says the same thing. Just search the web for reviews of Depew and you will see that my experience was not unique. They are simply rude and disshonest people. After I had to cancel a part order, they would not help and just kept saying NO returns, NO returns... I was willing to pay restocking fee, and any costs they incurred, but they just got more combative. I asked for the owner or manager, and was shocked to learn that the person I was talking to was the owner. STAY AWAY. Any business run by a person like that should be avoided!

    I stupidly paid more for my appliance because of their "we service what we sell" gimmick. Boy was I stupid. I had a problem within the first week and then they couldn't come out until four days later, and the man I talked with acted as if it was an inconvience for him. Three months, five service calls and two no shows later, my dishwasher was still broken. Maytag finally agreed to buy it back. I bought another dishwasher from another locally owned store a mile away and got the best customer service I have ever had (A&A Appliance). Want to buy local? Don't buy here. ps A&A was cheaper than the big guys too.
