I rented a car from Enterprise to take my son to college in  2010. when i arrived at the rental site at prescribed time the agents told me no car was available. they drove me to a nearby location and i waited for over 1/2 an hour for the a car  to arrive. when the car came in... they just brought it back from a body shop. the manager didnt check anything because i already paid for the vehicle. she said everything was ok. when i dropped the car-off ...in a different location ....the agent said there was damage to the car. the car never left my sight!  they also told me that there was a report of damage on this car before. so i disputed that i did the damage.  the Enterprise Corporation contacted me saying i still had to pay $750.00 in damages. i have names of all people involved. what is my recourse? this has affected my credit because i refuse to pay for damages i didn't incure.

First try asking car renter co  to show the proof of the so call damages. Ask if you can see the inspection sheet before and after you got the car, look at comments and mileage and body shot repair invoice if possible.  The body shop always writes details of time and mileage. Ask to speak to Mgr's supervisor and let them you are planning to dispute the charges in a calm tone don't threaten them and let them know you will contact police to file a complaint of possible fruad.  if you used your credit cards then you should have been insured and dispute charges with CC and credit agencies

Remember to never recieve a car away from rental place and inspect it before if a problem. Don't accept it show the agent the problem. Second use your camera on cell phone take before and after videos incase they claim a problem next time. Don't let time go to dispute a credit card issue and ask for a detailed bill to see all charges.  If you see a unfamiliar charge ask the Co. what it is for? Always.
