Lots of reports of Do Not Call violations. Telemarketing calls to cell phones are violations of the TCPA, unless you have already given them permission to call you at that number.
They claim to be calling about renewing magazine subscriptions, but it is not clear whether they are actually hired by the publisher, so beware. Although an existing business relationship (such as an existing magasine subscription) might allow a telemarketer for a publisher to call customers even on the Do Not Call list, a number of reports have them calling years after a subscription expired, where there would no longer be the "existing relationship" exemption.
A number of magazine subscription telemarketers attempt to renew existing magazine subscriptions without having any connection to the publisher, often by claiming or implying they are calling on behalf of the publisher. Often their rates are higher, and some are out and out scams. Violations of Do Not Call or TCPA laws would not be a good sign as to whether you could trust them to follow any other laws.

When I tried to say that I am on the Do Not Call Registry so it was illegal for him to even call me, the guy, of course, hung up!"

I have been getting the same callls and I have filed with both the T4exas and Colorado Attorney Generals office. I also spoke with a private attorney who happens to be a friend of mine. He said this is a new scam. They are trying to get you say that you are receiveng a magazine regardless of whether or not you subcribed to it. In some instances the magazines are being sent when no subcribtion exists in order to bill the recipient. All they have to do is get you to say you have received the magazine. This is a highly illegal way to extorte money from people. I can't wait for Greg Abbott to get them. The state of Texas holds no bars when it comes to this [***] thankfully.

I have been receiving calls all day from this # 303-238-5792 and either shows Lakewood, CO or Unknown to our house #. They will not leave a message. I am disabled so I was trying to sleep the 1st time, then gone to the hospital the others. Hope this helps get these people!

have received at least 6 calls to my cell phone from this caller. Restricted shows sometimes on caller id - other times, the number shows. Usually a man answers and asks for "ron" or some other name. this is area code 757

I just received this same call and from the same number. I don't give out my cell phone number to anyone but friends and associates. What's disturbing is they knew my name by asking for me. When I asked who was calling they said it was in reference to "Rolling Stone" magazine. I said I don't get "Rolling Stone" and they said "Okay" and hung up. My concern is if they know names and private numbers like cell phone numbers -- can they be working on getting enough of our personal information to take our identities or are they just running a simpler scam?

I have been getting calls for several weeks about my (not approved) TV Guide subscription. After reading this E-mail on calls, I will know now how to give them a better answer that may eliminate those unnecessary calls to me.

got a phone call on my cell phone and it said restricted and this is the third time, i just zap them immediately and dont say a word.
