calling for some who does not live here at the address

604 530 8904 wiggins adjustments do not stop calling for now almost 2 years that i came to occupy by buying this house. They are calling some one who ddoes not live here explained several times complained and they do not stop harassing us. Is there any way they can be stopped

    2 years is ridiculous, but not uncommon for a debt collector engaging in illegal harassment.

    Send them a letter, mailed certified, notifying them to cease calling your number, nnn-nnn-nnnn.

    If they continue to harass you in violation of FDCPA, contact your state Attorney General for assistance.  

    You can also find a consumer attorney and sue them.  You might try www.naca.net

      The FDCPA is an American entity and has nothing to do with Canadian debt...

    Communication with debtor

     A collector must not continue to communicate with a debtor except in writing, if the debtor  has notified the collector to communicate in writing only, and has provided a mailing address at which the debtor may be contacted

    For example: This is to direct you to communicate with me in writing only at the following email address:

    I recommend that you put this notification in writing to the collection agency and the creditor in a manner that would provide proof that this action has taken place. This could include fax with confirmation, email with confirmation, registered mail, or a cc of your email to the Mainland British Columbia Better Business Bureau.  Be sure to keep a copy of the letter for your records. Fax Wiggins at 604-530-4977as faxing is the most efficient method of contact ensuring that you keep a copy of the fax confirmation allowing 4 to 5 business days for the business to process your information.  If the calls do not stop, you can file a complaint with The BBB, or here: http://www.consumerprotectionbc.ca/

    I've been receiving the automated harassment calls for better than 2 years. I tried phoning many times with much the same result as everyone else on this site. I had sent them the "letter", as suggested by Consumer Protection, and still the calls continued. I persisted and finally found an email address for Wiggins A.,
    info@wiggins-adj.com. And I actually received a response, "It's simple, pay the $80.00 bill, and we'll stop calling."
    I am now in contact with a Dave McGuire (Executive Manager, ya right!) via email. and again, I've asked him directly, by email, to: "stop the calls. It is not my debt and I will not pay it."

    I've also filed a complaint with BBB, although they have responded to the other 40+ complaints that the company is doing just fine and the complaints are not valid. see http://www.bbb.org/mbc/business-reviews/colle ... 8647/complaints
    I've specifically filed it as a service compliant and a harassment issue. We'll see what happens now.
    And I've filed with Consumer Protection BC, http://www.consumerprotectionbc.ca/. We'll see....

    If all of this finally doesn't work, I will set up a repetitive email to both addresses (I wish I had hacker skills so it could be as anonymous as their calls) and ... flood their system...

    I am getting the same issue but for me the number has been in my family since 1992. and a Mr John Edwards has never in that time had the number... can't call them and have no idea how to block the number

    You can purchase land line telephones which specifically block particular numbers and or blocked numbers.

    Wiggens has some serious illegal practices. The letter they send says "Attorneys/Credit Bureau" They are neither and have no lawyer on staff making this an illegal practice. They indicate in their letters that "Legal Action to commence on (xxxxdate) if not paid etc. The letters are mailed out after the this date has passed & when you call they are happy to tell you it's not too late you can still pay. This is also illegal as they have no written authorization to take legal action from their client and will never take action against you. They are all bark & no bite. Dave is just a plain simpleton that seems to have to real education on how debt collection actually works or the laws that govern his business. This will catch up with him in time. Be sure you forward all copies of his illegal correspondence to odr@consumerprotectionbc.ca
    Look here for other helpful information as I am sure these are not the only laws they are breaking.
