clothing torn

I purchased a maytag machine just under 2 years ago from Sears. I also purchased the extended warranty from sears. Always noticed small holes but thought that was a fluke. 3 months ago the machine was leaking water to sears came and replaced the rubber boot. After that, several pieces of clothing appeared ripped in a circular pattern. Sears came back and told me they couldn't find anything wrong. This continued to happen and they came back again and replaced the plastic drum, rubber boot and shocks. The service man said the machine wasnt level because of the shocks so perhaps that was the reason for the ripped clothing. Overall this took about 3 months to resolve and i was without a machine for most of this period. I hope it's fixed now as I have lost hundreds of dollars worth of clothing including some of my favourites.
While i was waiting for the service repair I called Maytag to see what they could do. I figured their service staff would know best since they built the machines and sears service repair all types.
Whirlpool/maytag customer service told me that they were not responsible for fixing the machine because my machine was out of warranty. I told him the product must have been defective because it should have lasted more than 2 years. The rep told me that their defective rate was better than their competitors and they were satisfied with that because it falls within industry standards. Industry standard may be acceptable for them but I consider any defect to be unacceptable. No more Whirlpool/Maytag products for me.
