Message left and I called back.  Said I owed a payday loan of $500 but will take $400   Supposedly this occurred in 2013.  His name was Vincent Chase the phone number 877-350-5011 and gave a physical address of 100 Park Central Blvd, Pompano Beach, Florida   Very pushy.  He knew last four numbers of SS# and past banking info.

    So, where's his "g" letter?
Debt collectors are required by FDCPA to send a letter within 10 days notifying you of the alleged debt, and of your right to dispute it and request proof you owe it.  Legitimate debt collectors follow the law.  The scams never send this letter, only claim they did.

SSN and bank info prove nothing.. replies to So, where's his "g" letter?
Any debt collector, even scam debt collectors, having access to credit reports and skip tracing (like Accurint) can get your SSN and past bank account information, even past addresses.  Giving you such information isn't proof the alleged "debt" is legitimate.

I have filed a claim against them just now. CLEARLY not legit. I am visiting Florida soon (on Business) so I will drop by that address and see what Vincent has to say, in person. I know that area, and it is a straight ghetto.

They have left several threatening voicemails for someone I do not know. I called them 3 times to let them know. Was told the first time they would remove my number yet they called 2 more times after that. Just spoke with a Robert Gilmore, rude & uneducated, I called back & spoke with Raymond Morgan (supposedly a manager) told him about Robert, the several computerized voicemails they have left, told him that they have to stop calling me since they have been told several times that they have the wrong number. He assured me that he removed my number from the 2 files they had with my number. I had to remind him about the debt collection laws in PA and that they are not to ever call my number again. So let’s see if these [***] follow the law or if I will have to take further actions against A-1 Receivables.

same as "Teresa".  A Vincent Chase @800-564-3116 x114 who said he was from A-1 Receivables said I owe $400 from a Pay Day Loan form 2012.  never received any collection notice.  Said that the company was only required top send a notice once and the envelope could have been a plain envelope and I may have thrown it away.  I asked for documentation before I pay anything and he said the company was not required to produce anything since they did already sent something out.  They had last 4 digits of social and my address and former employer and bank account.  I don't feel comfortable paying anything and frankly I don't remember any pay day loan unpaid.  He said that ZFN would take the payment From and then send me an email with the company whose debt I paid, their Account # and amount.  The message left originally on my voicemail was that a private courier would be showing up with document that I would need to sign for at my residence and/or placer of business.  My boss or HR rep would need to witness this.

These people use these tactics to get you to contact them and then get you to pay.  Mr. Chase told me that I could handle this myself or contact an attorney and have them handle it in court.  What?

I had the exact same experience as Oskar.  Literally the exact.  I am unsure if this is a scam as I did have a payday load in 2012 but I was pretty sure it was paid previously.  It also hasn't been on my credit, but they said that since it was an "income" loan and not a credit load they weren't able to report it.  Anyone have anything further on this?  Is this legit?

Same call as others, I will be served with papers etc or I can call 800-564-3116 to place a stop order on the delivery.  Yeah that’s legit <eye roll>. Process serves don’t announce they are coming.  Additionally, the Fair Debt Collection Practives Act requires anyone trying to collect a debt to provide WRITTEN verification of the alleged debt (not email!) upon request from the alleged debt owed.  Don’t be fooled by these people.  If they will kit provide you with any information about themselves that is VERIFIABLE - a legit company has a website and physical address - or about the supposed debt then don’t pay anything! Get a written verification of debt letter first!! If they don’t send one don’t pay a penny! You can request their address and send a written request for the verification of debt and send it certified mail.  So tired of these people scamming folks.
