I also purchased a Chateau D'ax livingroom set.  I didn't purchase an "extended warranty" from Macy's, as the last leather sofa I owned lasted 20 years and it was supposed to be a "cheap" brand!  So, I assumed that this would last just as long, as I paid quite a bit for this and it was supposed to be higher quality.

About 2 weeks after my "warranty period" of one year, the leather started tearing.  Just falling apart.  I called to tell Macy's about it.  There's two pieces of the leather that have a totally different feeling than furniture leather.  These areas feel more like soft purse leather.  And, it is obviously very thin!  I now have owned the sofa for 3 years.  It has multiple areas where the leather basically disintegrated.

Macy's sent out a guy who took pictures of the leather where it was starting to deteriorate.  He wrote on his report that we had dogs in the house!  I have a 7 lb. dog that gets on the sofa once in a while but won't lay on the sofa unless there's a blanket to lay on!  And the leather that started falling apart is on the BACK of the sofa...on the part where your back hits when you sit.  NOT where a dog would sit.

My last "cheap" leather sofa lasted 20 years and through 3 kids growing up on it!  And, basically, I got sick of looking at it...the leather was still good when we got rid of it!

I will NEVER purchase anything from Macy's again.  I was treated with such disrespect after I had spent $2300 with them!  And, I will never purchase another Chateau D'Ax piece of furniture!  The rest of the sofa, chair and leather ottoman/coffee table are in good condition.  So, I know it is the two pieces of leather that are substandard.  The entire set gets the same "wear and tear" from us as this section, but now we are looking at about 5 large holes that just keep getting larger!  The leather is FALLING APART!

BUYER BEWARE!  Macy's DOES NOT CARE about you as a customer and CHATEAU D"AX makes GARBAGE furniture!!!!!

I think it probably is your dog. Your blanket covers the bottom cushion, but the dog probably gnaws or just paws onto the back of the seat. As far as thickness of the leather, I think I know what line you're talking about. It is thin, but in order to give a more supple feel. That "purse feel" comes at a price - slightly more sensitive leather. It is wise in these cases to buy the 7 year warranty. It would have cost you about $120 - $200, but they would cover the tears. 100%. I'm thinking about buying Chateux D'Ax from Macy's. also. I hear great things, and a few very negative comments. So, I'll see. But if I purchase it, I will definitely get the extended warranty.

I completely understand your frustration in regard to your product....but Macy's or any company had any obligation to assist you with a product any longer than the warranty provides coverage. You did not take into consideration that Macy's paid for the employee to come to your home to look over your complaint. Even the largest of companies can't take back products at every complaint a customer makes. Yes, your product has failed..but the product failed while out of warranty. Companys make exceptions where possible and reasonable.... It's not always someone else's fault.

I have no dogs and my Chateau D’Aux leather pieces did loose the shine in one year, in 2 there was no color on were we sit and where you would touch the sofa))))). And the funny think is that we do no sit. We work all day. I went there to complain and I kept getting the run around. No one would help. Call this number, go this person, go to Macys where you got it from. Very disappointing customer service.
