They are another "business directory" scam, fraudulently claiming you owe them.  These scams typically employ deceptive representations that you agreed to a contract, threats to damage your credit, doctored phone recordings, etc, to extort unowed payments.

File complaints against them with FTC and your state Attorney General, since their demand for payment you never agreed to is already a violation of law.

Do not believe any excerpts of any recording they may try to pass of as some "authorization" by you or an employee.  Doctored recordings are common with this type of scam, and their tactics are well known to regulatory authorities, law enforcement, BBB, etc.

If they send you an "invoice" demanding payment for something you never agreed to (unlikely), file a complaint with the U.S. Postal Inspector for mail fraud.

Most such scammers have been demanding about $400, which may be small enough to get small businesses to pay them off just to avoid the nuisance.

Note how their $589 amount is just below the $600 UCC threshold for requiring a written agreement, consistent with the fraudulent appearance they are trying to create that there is some "verbal contract".

This fraud is about appearances, plausible deniability, and bluff.

I started getting calls in mid summer for my husband saying he had authorized some type of advertising.  The beginning of December I got a call stating there was a balance due- we had a few words at that time.  I received a call the other day, but recognized the number so let it go to voice mail.  They called back under a blocked number a while later- get this- stating that it was my husbands dentist verifying his yearly checkup! Just got off the phone again, line went dead when I told them it was a farce.  Sigma National Yellow pages- beware!

I just got a call and refused to accept their telling me I owed them money.  They didn't even know my name and I didn't offer it.  I hung up on the guy and he called back saying I was rude, when he was rough talking from the beginning.  Then, when I refused to offer payment, he said he'd have his legal dept call me.  "Go ahead, I said", and hung up again.  Now, after seeing all these posted notes of how they are a scam, I feel even better that I didn't take any c from them.

This guy just called me and asked if we wanted to "renew", i told him we were never in the yellow pages. He was clearly reading off of his transcript as I tried to tell him we never had a listing with them. When he read over me, ignoring what I was saying i finally asked a bit louder "Are you listening to me?" then he finally paused and replied "No" and then went back to his script. I couldn't stop laughing. He said he was sending me a bill for last years listing as they bill "at the end of the year". I told him that wasn't very smart since we never approved it, we wouldn't be paying. He just kept on rambling right over me saying his lines and then hanging up on me. These people are unreal!

We also received a call at work.  I told them we'd agree to cancel the listing but not agree to pay for last year as we'd never authorized it.  They did have my name as well as others in my office.  When I put them on hold, they hung up.

Also, they said they would fax an invoice which gets them around the mail fraud issue.
