This morning I heard from a collection agency that I owed Yellow Blue Media for last year a total of $1,086.93 but if I pay it today it would only be $800.00. This is the same story I heard last year and I paid it with the Company Credit Card and told them do not call me again to cancel it. Today when they called me I told the lady that it should have been cancelled last year after payment and she said she was only collecting for them. I told her I was not going to pay it and she said they would issue a summons to collect the money. I asked her for the phone number of Yellow Blue Media as I have never received anything from them at all a bill, or a book. She would not give it to me so I hung up on her. I am tired of getting this call once a year and hope something can be done about it. I work for AMUSA in Nashville, TN.

This is a common "business directory" shakedown extortion racket.  BBB, FTC, and various Atttorneys General have many press release warnings out about these scams.

Often they hide their operation out of the country, often using call centers in Montreal Canada, or even India or Pakistan.  Be aware that they often fake recordings of "phone authorizations", by doctoring and editing calls "to verify your information".

They are using an increasing number of names, probably to hide from FTC and other regulators, but they often use a New Jersey debt collector that handles scam collections.

She isn't "only collecting for them".  That's just her excuse to deny any knowledge of the fraud, of which she is fully aware.  Looks like they have been giving themselves a "raise", then playing the "discounted settlement" game, if you only pay today.

File fraud complaints with FTC and your state Attorney General.
If you receive a fraudulent invoice in the mail, file a mail fraud complaint with the US Postal Inspector.

Ignore their threats.  To "issue a summons" they would have to sue you, and there is no way they want to show up in court with their phony "recordings".

As long as it looks like you will pay them, they will keep coming back for more.
