Legal Asset Financial Group LLC is an offshoot of Rincon Mangement Group LLC, et. al.  As you may recall, the "Rincon" collection cluster was run by Jason R. Begley and Wayne Lunsford, all of which were shut down pursuant to an FTC sting and TRO/PP back in October of 2011.  Two weeks after the raid on the Rincon cluster, Legal Asset Financial Group LLC was formed.  The corporate documents are mailed to 2401 Simon Circle, Corona, CA.. This address is the last known address for Samuel Alexis Marquez and Victor Hugo Marquez.  As many of you insiders already know, these two individuals were managers/senior collectors for the Rincon cluster.  Recent internet activity shows complaints are already trickling in about this company.  I need help getting a location on Legal Asset Financial Group LLC as I beleive that previously purchased debt from the Rincon cluster is now being collected through this entity in violation  of the FTC preliminary injunction. If anyone has information or complaints against Legal Asset Financial Group LLC, please post and I will do the follow up investigation.

I received a call from this company first it was from unknown giving me a case # and to call this 8777584888 number I then spoke with a pamela parker who said that I was going to be sued for 3800 dollars.  It was for a company that I did have a debt form but she said they would settle with me for 1451.00 they had my previous address on file and she sent me a "settlement letter via email/  The email came from legalassetfinancialgroup@gmail.com................thats what made me think what legit company sends a settlement letter via email threw a gmail account? I did give her my card info but after I received that email I got suspicious and reported my card lost or stolen.  She never offered to show me signs of proof of the debit just the settlement letter.........not sure what I should do from here....I will pull my credit report to see whats on there in the next few days

File a complaint with FTC, due to violations of FDCPA, such as deceptive collection, false threats of a "lawsuit", failure to notify you by mail, within 5 days of first contact, of your right to dispute.

Their case against Rincon et al is still in federal court.

You might also contact an attorney, to explore suing for violations of FDCPA.  You can find a consumer attorney in  your state through www.naca.net

You can expect to receive deceptive "process server" calls in a few days, possibly first to your relatives even though by pulling your credit report, they will have already obtained your current address.

Based on their complaint pattern, they will probably attempt to brush off and evade any attempts at validation.

For example, they might try to pass off some "settlement offer" email in place of providing their address and responding to your dispute and validation request letter.  A "settlement letter" is not proof of anything, and attempts to pass this off as "validation" are deceptive, and violate FDCPA.

Or they might try to convince you to pay first, telling you they will send you a letter supposedly confirming this "debt" you have just paid.  You have a right to obtain proof from a debt collector of an alleged debt, traceable back to the original creditor, BEFORE you decide to pay them, and attempts to steer you away from demanding proof are deceptive, and violate FDCPA.

They might even tell you they can remove some bad debt tradeline from your credit report that was posted by some other creditor or data furnisher.  They have no power to remove any other company's credit report reporting, and attempts to convince you otherwise are deceptive, and violate FDCPA.

Deceptive collection is a key indicator of fraudulent collection, attempting to collect "debt" that may not even be owed to them at all.

my wife got a call from this company (Broward County Process Server) running the same script and shakedown requesting a crazy amount of money without validation.

With my previous experience or lack thereof I had my wife tell them she'll settle for 40% which came out to be close to 200 dollars (to ease her conscious and get it over with). Got an email for a settlement letter from admin@cohengroupandassociates.com.

I felt uneasy about the whole deal and looked to find a website or any info in this company to verify that there legit but found there was no website for cohengroupandassociates.com.

I had my wife give my debit info for payment and found the receiver to be Legal Asset Financial Group on my bank statement. I looked them up and found this site. (I wish I knew this before)

I went back and looked through my wife's old credit report to match up info on the "settlement letter" and found that the account number to the debt in question doesn't match and the name of original creditor is slightly off.

I've since call the bank to cancel my card and explained the situation in my view as a fraudulent extortion rig and in the process of disputing the charge and I hope it can be removed.

If anyone can answer this: What is the likelihood that the bank will reverse the charges?

Any info regarding this is greatly appreciated. Thanks for this page and all who posted information.

I got a call from Mr Duke. He first called my employer saying I had 1hr to call back before they served papers. I called him and he was demanding a settlement for 5000 dollars. Very aggressive on the phone I almost went through with sending him some money to get him to stop harassing me. There is a valid debt that I owe but I don't belive that these crooks own it. He sent me a shady looking settlement email. I have since called the FTC and filled a complaint. He continues to call from a blocked number. I have demanded validation and have not seen anything yet.........

I also got a visit from someone wanting to serve me papers because I was being sued.  Of course like some of you,m I did have a debt with a company they said they were representing.  They said I was being sued for 12,000 but would settle if I had not yet signed the papers.  Of course, I agreed, now again they were supposed to email paperwork, never did, deposited money, but money has not been completely withdrawn from bank.  Now I need to go cancel this transfer and my debit card.  The phone # I called transferred me over to the "lawyer" in charge of the case named Robert Duke.
thanks for having these posts.  Really helped out.

If you got a visit, then a real process server would simply have handed you the summons and you would have been served.  No signature needed.

      That leaves 2 possibilities:
      1)  Your visit was by phone only, like a call to your house or your employer claiming they had visited, but "missed you".  Just an act to fake the appearance of a "lawsuit".
      2)  You're a shill.

      Which is it?

I got a call from a Michael Smith that said he was from WorldWide and Associates. He said he was an attorney and not a debt collector. He said he was going to papers served on me for an outstanding debt and the debt of $1,500 would turn into $5,000 to $6,000 once I got to court. He then said my wages would be garnished and all property for ten years. He said if I could pay $1,500 today he would not have the papers served. Then he offered $1,000. My boyfriend paid if for me. I got a letter but it didn't come from an attorney. It came from LAFG. WTF! I have contacted an attorney. My boyfriend wants me to call and demand the money back. Can he get ahold of his back and say it was a fraud and the money be put back in? Where should I go from here? I should be getting a call back from the attorney I am trying to consult this afternoon. I am so furious. It is illegal for someone to say they are an attorney when they are not according to the rules and regulations. Plus the threatening of wage garnishment and property. I am so furious. The number he called me from was 1-888-699-9546.

Going thru the same stuff as posted above from this LAFG. The mans name who contacted us was Robert Duke who said he was with World Wide Law firm but the paper work he sent was from LAFG in reference to a old loan from Cash call. The number he left at my work was 1-888-699-9546 to return his calls. Even the paper work he sent look very unofficial. The address and phone and fax number matches the address given by Drm Star on the 21st of March 2013. Shame they can't stop these people.

I was not able to get help from Lemberg and Associates but was advised because I reside in Texas I needed to contact a TX attorney so I have done that. Their tactics are unlawful. I ran my credit and what they are saying that I owe is not even on my credit. He then told me that Arrowhead Investments bought out my debt from another lender. Ummm no...why would a payday loan company do that? I don't even recall getting a payday loan from them ever. He couldn't show me paperwork either with anything that I signed. Ughh....

After taking a step back and realizing tons of factors were missing in the conversations with Mr. Robert Duke, my attorney intervened and upset Mr. Duke.  It was to the point of harassment.  After not answering the several calls from a blocked number he then called from this number - 713.359.9052

They are suppose indicate they are debt collectors and do record the conversations. Most collection agencies record the conversation to protect themselves and to protect you.  They must also assure you they are attempting collect a debt...

Received a call from this 713-359-9052 number and and it was a woman. She called my place of employment and stated that she wanted to speak with a manager in reference to serving me papers. She spoke so fast I could get the name of the company or her name.
