I have a pair of Red Wing boots, stock # 8588, that are not that old, and they have been very well taken care of. They were always my mainstay when it came to wearing boots in bad weather. I just discovered that while the soles have much tread left, the heel of the right boot completely rotted out, leaving a big hole in the side of the heel. This should never have happened to a Red Wing boot. The leather and rest of the structure is still in excellent condition, but the boot is useless without a heel. I guess Red Wing has gone the way of many of the other companies and took the cheap way out. Doesn't anyone care about their product any more? What a shame.

I purchased a pair of red wing low cut shoes #8704 style specifically for inside . They leave scuff marks on linoleum floors which are difficult to clean up. When I called customer service they said it states on their web site that these particular shoes are not scuff resistant so too bad. When I bought the shoes no where  was  their a warning to attest to this fact.I wear red wing high top boots all the time that have never caused a problem, so had no reason to suspect these low cut shoes would be any different. This is poor business practice and unless I receive some remedy I'll never purchase another pair of red wings.
