503-563-0989 - Also 205-213-0115 - Same as others, it's the old Credit Card Phishing Scam.

Message states "Hello, this is Rachel from Cardholder Services. We're calling to inform you about an issue with your credit card. There is no problems with your card, but we wanted to notify you that you now qualify for a lower interest rate. Please press 1 to speak with a live representative to lower your credit card interest rate now!" or some such crap like that.

They've called our house before in the past with various numbers, but this time the call came in on my CELL PHONE.

Let's look over out illegal activities checklist, shall we? Pre-Recorded Message? Check. Unsolicited Phone Call? Check. No Opt-Out option offered? Check. Using an Auto-Dialer? Check. Spoofing the company name and/or number? Check. Illegally calling a cell phone with your bull$hit? Check.

Seems that it's time to file a formal complaint.

"Rachel" with Cardholder Services called me again today, but this time on my cell phone.  Both my cellular and home phone numbers are registered on the National Do Not Call list.
The call registered 253-246-8586 on my cell phone.
I pressed the number 1 key to speak with a representative, and, after much silence, the call was dropped.
I tried calling back the number and it went to neverland - no ringing, no nothing.
After calling my home number countless times, I'm wondering how they acquired my cell phone number...
Given the fact that I have to pay for cellular air time, I'd say that a theft has been committed here and for everyone else who has gotten these calls on their cell phones.

      Card Holder Services Scam calls:
I've put a block on their number, but they cycle through a bunch of area codes & numbers so that doesn't stop them.

I've selected option 1, I got a sleezy sounding rep and said I need to talk to your supervisor, "What's this about" and I said I need to get off of this list.... and he cut me off.

Okay, so lets track these buggers down and anybody associated with this slimy operation, , line them all up against a wall and put a silver bullet through each, or wooden stake or whatever it takes.

Currently, if it's a number I don't know, I don't answer.  Not really the best solution.

I've tried all the regular approaches, and, as you say, they don't work, so..... I have taken to asking them what they are wearing etc etc. Since their call is illegal in the first place, they are unable to take action. I am hoping they will actually create their own working do-not-call list *Fingers Crossed*

That's what happens, the hang up, it's solely an attempt to acquire financial information about you to steal from your accounts, these people apparently from India need to be stopped.

Try this, it's a tone take indicates that your phone number is no longer working. I'm going to try it the next time they call.

They got your cell phone number from the no-call list itself.

No doubt the government is selling the numbers on the no-call list to these people.

I've gotten this call many times, but never really had the chance to yank around the scammer much. I figure that the longer I can keep them on the line, the less time they have to scam someone that would actually fall for this (and it's more fun than pressing 3 to get off of the calling list). The first time I did it, I gave them fake info, and complained about not being able to find a recent credit card statement. This time I took the approach of being the worried guy that had to make sure that nothing was wrong with my account or standing, like it said in the message. I got the person at the other end so angry, she ended up saying: "Have a nice day, have a blast, and next time press 3 dumb_ss!" Which proves how much of a scam it is, because no real customer service person would be so rude.

Cardmember Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chase Manhattan Bank NA. To correct this, take Chase to small claims court. Under the Federal Do Not Call legislation, a private citizen may sue the calling company for $500.00 per instance of unwanted calls if the phone number called is on the Federal Do Not Call list. The problem is serving process on the company. I will leave that detail to each of you as it requires local knowledge.

How do you know that Cardmember Services is a subsidiary of Chase Manhattan?

If true, I like your approach.

And what kind of proof do you need that you received a call.  Just your word?

        Cardmember Services or Cardholder Services?

I think my calls are coming from Cardholder Services.

Totally wrong. The numbers are spoofed on a regular basis. These people are scammers, plain and simple. They have absolutely no ties to any legitimate company.

You are confusing the names "Cardholder Services" and "Cardmember Services". They are not the same outfit.

Cardholder and Cardmember are totally different.  Cardmember is totally legit.  Cardmember is a slimy growth that will not stop  breeding.  I have reported them for over a year and they still call every few days.
