My father (who has since passed away a few years back), bought a Black & Decker Power Washer 1500 becoming sick before having a chance to use it more than a few times. Knowing his B&D was newer than my PW unit ,I sold my older unit at a yard sale last fall, and kept his PW assuming his unit would be the best of the two. When I brought it out of the garage last week to clean the patio furniture, I plugged it in and it leaked like crazy out of the machine itself. Being handy, I took off the front of the unit and saw why. The brass pipe that attaches to the hose was cross-threaded on to the next pump part, a factory quality problem. This unit says "Made in Italy" not China, as one would expect! I went to Ace Hardware and bought a two-step plumbers epoxy and was able to fix the (stripped) threads. I attached the hose and the gun handle ready to finally use it, turned on the water and water rushed out of the trigger gun! How could one fairly new unit have two such major problems?! Taking apart the handle water was coming out of the green O-ring.  Black & Decker wants $45.00 for a new gun handle (no way will I put another $45 into this unit!) and no after market handles will fit B&D connectors.....So, is it yet another thing into the landfill, a tool that should have lasted years, only being used a few times a season?!

I have a similar problem with my PW1500.  I was able to solve the o-ring leak by making sure the replacement o-ring was the same dimensionally.  This o-ring is not easy to find and you would need to go to a place has all different sized o-rings.  The other problem I encountered is the black pipe that the hose is connected to develops porosity.  I tested this pipe and under pressure I can see the water leaking through the plastic pipe. I am also in the market for a new gun and and quite Leary of what B&D has to offer as a replacement.

Well everyone, looks like I'm new to the group!  I bought mine Saturday for assembly and use on Sunday.  I like to think that I manage most things (like getting the mower out year on year, filing down and cleaning the spark plug before the old girl bursts into action), but I spent most of Sunday trying to get the thing working.  Just trying to get the wheels on nearly killed me!  Suffice to say, I didn't cave and finally assembled it, only to find that the end connection of my hose didn't seem to grip.  So, not to be beaten, I went and bought a new hose with various end nozzle parts.  None of these gripped well enough to the plastic attachment provided and water just spurted out or just wasn't getting through the little pressure gauge thingy (I'm NOT techi literate, as you have guessed).  So it will be going back to Argos at the first opportunity on Wed!  I thought I would be safe with a B&W.   Oh and the instructions are totally crap!

I bought a B&D 1700 psi electric pressure washer and have had nothing but trouble from it. The hose split and the wand cracked within the first month. The wheels are useless because it's too short to pull and the handle is useless to carry it...which may be genius engineering because it won't stand upright anyway. Maybe I'll try dragging it.....to the curb!

My wife picked one of these Black and Decker 1700's up. Trouble from the start. Lack of pressure because the handle leaks. Badly. I have only used it a handful of times. It's a freakin' crime that something like this even gets to market. WILL NEVER BUY BLACK AND DECKER ANYTHING EVER!!!!!!

Same here.  The handle is leaking after only one season.  I was surprised to see what a cheap trigger valve mechanism it has.The connector in the handle has a few O rings which I'm guessing are the problem.  I'm hoping to find some and try that.  The 90 day warranty is obviously expired.  Bought mine at Lowes.  I don't expect them to take it back, but I had hoped that they would do some checking before selling junk.

my pw1500 has the same wand problem of massive water leakage.i did take it apart 3 times and the problem is the same.it"s the "o" rings.the last time i replaced the "o"rings,i bought them from napa auto parts, water street hummelstown pa.they worked fine till the next season when i first used it and again, massive water leaks.if you do go this route, lube the "o"rings with silicon grease first."not"vasoline or any product with petrolium oils.they will deteriate the rings.good luck.p.s.my unit works fine.it"s just the problem in the wand.bought a husky.kicks azz.

I purchased a B&D 1900 psi. Only used couple of times. The gun handle became leaking. I wrote a online message asked for help in April 2016. So far, three months passed no one reply to me. Product is bad, the service even worse!

Same issue with my B&D pressure washer. Leaks everywhere, out of gun and unit. Its going to the dump. FYI B&D now owns Dewalt, so all those people buying their fancy dewalt tools are getting the same crap. Look at a dewalt drill from 5-6 years ago and look at a new one, you will see.
