Hello all, my girlfriend and I signed up for Direct Buy in El Paso, TX, about 2 years ago, after being persuaded into it. Seemed like a good idea at the time. We haven't tried to buy anything. We moved back to Maine, where the closest DB is probably 6 hours away. Today I got a Chapter 7 notification in the mail.  Just wondering if anyone else has received anything like this or if there is any way I can get the money back that we've already paid to DB/Beta Finance??

Chapter 7 is complete liquidation of a business in bankruptcy.

    Contact your state Attorney General.

Might want to contact a consumer attorney to see if there is a basis for a class action lawsuit against their "finance" company that was an integral part of the scheme.

I also have this Beta company after me for services not rendered locally. The benefit of signing up for me was the convenience of having a club nearby that I can order from at my convenience. I was told to contact the Texas Attorney General to see if we can get relief through the Franchisor H&G Direct, Inc. Headquarters. A big portion of those membership fees went to them and now they are trying to say that you can order from far away clubs and delivery will be done at a local place...I do not know where...If many more of us make these complaint against DirectBuy the Attorney general could recommend that a class action suit is brought against them. I was told to write Beta Finance and dispute the charges because you see no benefit from the bargain you were promised while sitting in that showroom. However, the best thing to do is contacting the Texas Attorney General and file that complaint.

It was overheard at the 341(a) meeting that there might be some relief through the TAG.....
